It was his second journey inside the minute mark following his 59.96 prelim. Nowacki becomes fifth all-time performer in Britain.<\/p>\n<p>Greece\u2019s defending champion <strong>Evangelos Ntoumas<\/strong> was second in 1:00.18 with bronze in 1:00.24 going to Turkiye\u2019s <strong>Nusrat Allahverdi<\/strong>, who beat Nowacki to 50m breaststroke gold.<\/p>\n<p>Nowacki then played a key part in helping Britain win the final race of the Championships, the men\u2019s 4x100m medley, in 3:38.09 from Greece in 3:38.96 and Spain in 3:39.18.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was in great shape coming into these Championships and I\u2019m tremendously happy about what I\u2019ve been able to achieve here,\u201d Nowacki told European Aquatics. \u201cAdam is a massive name in the sport of swimming, so to beat one of his records feels amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Also contributing to that relay victory was <strong>Dean Fearn<\/strong> who also won 50 fly gold\u00a0in a Championship record of 23.29, with silver going to <strong>Jan Foltyn<\/strong> of the Czech Republic and Serbia\u2019s <strong>Nemanja Mksic<\/strong> earning bronze in 23.78.<\/p>\n<p>Smith Completes IM Double<\/p>\n<p>Fifteen-year-old <strong>Amalie Smith<\/strong>, winner of the women\u2019s 400m individual medley on day one, completed the double with victory in the women\u2019s 200m medley in 2:12.62, from Germany\u2019s <strong>Noelle Benkler<\/strong> on 2:12.76, with bronze going to Ireland\u2019s <strong>Grace Davison<\/strong> in 2:14.05.<\/p>\n<p>Shortt won 100m backstroke gold in 54.09 from neutral athlete <strong>Georgii Iakovlev<\/strong> on 54.47 and France\u2019s <strong>Nathan Muratory<\/strong> on 54.75.<\/p>\n<p>Silisteanu retained her women\u2019s 100m backstroke title in 1:00.40, with silver going to France\u2019s <strong>Jeanne Lechevalier<\/strong> in 1:00.52 and Britain\u2019s 50m backstroke champion <strong>Blythe Kinsman<\/strong> taking bronze in 1:00.70.<\/p>\n<p>Plytnykaite held onto the women\u2019s 100m breaststroke title in dominant fashion as she clocked 1:07.21 to finish comfortably clear of Germany\u2019s 200m breaststroke champion <strong>Lena Ludwig<\/strong> on 1:08.10 and Britain\u2019s <strong>Theodora Taylor<\/strong> on 1:08.47.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-531858\" data-attachment-id=\"531858\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/danielle-hill-sets-irish-records-in-100-back-50-fly-at-mccullagh-international\/john-shortt-2-4-2023\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/inpho_02223941.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"640,440\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;4&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;\\u00a9INPHO\\\/Dan Sheridan&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;Canon EOS-1D X Mark III&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;2023 Irish Open Swimming Championships, National Aquatic Centre, Blanchardstown, Dublin 2\\\/4\\\/\\\/2023\\rMen 13 &amp;
