Search teams attending a Manchester canal have discovered a body.<\/p>\n

Officers were seen in attendance at the Rochdale Canal<\/a> in Miles Platting<\/a> on Sunday evening (July 6).<\/p>\n

Underwater divers joined the operation while a cordon was in place on Hulme<\/a> Hall Lane, close to the canal, at around 8pm.<\/p>\n

Greater Manchester Police<\/a> says it was called out to reports of ‘possessions’ being found on the canal bank.<\/p>\n

A search of the canal took place on Sunday evening, where officers discovered the body of a man.<\/p>\n

The man is yet to be identified and enquiries are ongoing this morning (Monday).<\/p>\n

His death is not currently believed to be suspicious, GMP says.<\/p>\n

Forensic investigators were seen gathering evidence in bags on Hulme Hall Lane on Sunday night.<\/p>\n

Multiple GMP vehicles were seen in the area, while people were asked to avoid the area while the cordon remained in place.<\/p>\n
