The European Union\u2019s understandable focus on external threats obscures a dangerous blind spot: the political disenfranchisement of the Roma, a growing electorate left vulnerable to manipulation and far-right scapegoating<\/p>\n<p>The European Union remains fixated on external threats to democracy \u2013 disinformation, authoritarianism, foreign interference. Yet it continues to ignore a critical internal vulnerability, one that anti-democratic actors have long exploited: the Union\u2019s own failings on inclusivity and minority rights.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/visegradinsight.eu\/poland-votes-2025-state-of-play\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"256\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/Banners-8-1024x256.jpg\" data- class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-33619 lazyload\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Europe\u2019s largest ethnic minority, the Roma, still faces systematic exclusion. In Italy, over 15,000 Roma live in irregular housing, exposed to forced evictions. In Slovakia, an education system described as \u2018apartheid\u2019 steers Roma children into lifelong poverty. Hungary has repeatedly been warned over school segregation.
