{"id":24496,"date":"2025-04-16T10:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T10:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24496\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T10:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T10:26:11","slug":"stocks-uk-inflation-and-asml-earnings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24496\/","title":{"rendered":"stocks, UK inflation and ASML earnings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UK bond yields fall after inflation eases<\/p>\n<p>Britain&#8217;s borrowing costs were broadly lower at 11 a.m. in London, after data showed <a href=\"#108132527-post\">U.K. inflation cooled<\/a> slightly more than expected in March.<\/p>\n<p>The yields on U.K. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/UK2Y-GB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2-year<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/UK10Y-GB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">10-year<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/UK30Y-GB\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">30-year<\/a> bonds, known as gilts, were all down by around 2 basis points.<\/p>\n<p>It has been a rocky month for U.K. yields, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/04\/10\/rollercoaster-week-for-global-bonds-continues-as-trump-put-sparks-reversals.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">spiked and then eased<\/a> as investors sought to position for tariff turbulence.<\/p>\n<p>Bank of America analysts said in a Wednesday note that the decline in both headline and services inflation in March supported the case for a quarter-point rate cut in May by the Bank of England.<\/p>\n<p>They added that odds were &#8220;rising for a faster cutting cycle than our base case of quarterly cuts&#8221; due to downside growth risks and the potential disinflationary impact of tariffs.
