Kyrgios decides not to enter into the French Open this year

Kyrgios has played only six singles matches in the past 30 months, and it has been even longer since he last competed at Roland Garros.

With the clay court major drawing ever closer, there have been questions over whether Kyrgios would enter Roland Garros using his protected ranking.

Although he is currently the world number 629, Kyrgios can use a protected ranking of 21 following his lengthy injury absence.

Despite this, Kyrgios does not appear on the now-released Roland Garros entry list, where Jannik Sinner is the top seed.

Kyrgios last played at Roland Garros in 2017, and he has never surpassed the third round at the Parisian major.

Roland Garros

Result

2013

Second champion Petra Kvitova, Sorana Cirstea, Jodie Burrage and Yanina Wickmayer.

When could Nick Kyrgios play again?

Kyrgios may not be competing at Roland Garros this year, but he may have his sights set on another Grand Slam tournament.

When speaking about his future plans in his Australian Open press conference earlier this year, Kyrgios targeted Wimbledon as a big goal of his for the season.

The last time that Kyrgios played at Wimbledon was in 2022, when he reached the singles final before losing to Novak Djokovic.

Wimbledon is by far Kyrgios’ best Grand Slam tournament, having won 71% of his matches there compared to 63% for his next best major, the Australian Open.

With The Championships a big goal for Kyrgios, there is also the possibility that he could play one of the grass court tournaments in the build-up to Wimbledon this year to get some much needed match practise on the surface.

Nick Kyrgios has played four tournaments so far this year after attempting to return from a serious
