Nick Kyrgios has played four tournaments so far this year after attempting to return from a serious wrist injury.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Kyrgios returned at the Brisbane International<\/a>, where he played his first match in 18 months after undergoing wrist surgery in 2023.<\/p>\n

However, after the wrist appeared to be causing concern again at the Australian Open<\/a>, Kyrgios hinted that retirement could be soon<\/a> in his plans.<\/p>\n

The former Wimbledon<\/a> finalist returned to action at the sunshine double, with Kyrgios beating Mackenzie McDonald<\/a> to win his first ATP<\/a> match since October 2022.<\/p>\n

After losing in the second round to Karen Khachanov<\/a>, questions arose over where Kyrgios<\/a> would play next with Roland Garros<\/a> coming up.<\/p>\n

Kyrgios has played only six singles matches in the past 30 months, and it has been even longer since he last competed at Roland Garros.<\/p>\n

With the clay court major drawing ever closer, there have been questions over whether Kyrgios would enter Roland Garros using his protected ranking.<\/p>\n

Although he is currently the world number 629, Kyrgios can use a protected ranking of 21 following his lengthy injury absence.<\/p>\n

Despite this, Kyrgios does not appear on the now-released Roland Garros entry list, where Jannik Sinner<\/a> is the top seed.<\/p>\n

Four ATP players have decided to use their protected rankings to enter Roland Garros this year in Reilly Opelka<\/a>, Sebastian Ofner, Houston champion Jenson Brooksby<\/a> and Emil Ruusuvuori. <\/p>\n

There are also four players using a protected ranking in the women\u2019s draw, in the form of two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova<\/a>, Sorana Cirstea, Jodie Burrage and Yanina Wickmayer.<\/p>\n

When could Nick Kyrgios play again?<\/p>\n

Kyrgios may not be competing at Roland Garros this year, but he may have his sights set on another Grand Slam tournament.<\/p>\n

When speaking about his future plans in his Australian Open press conference earlier this year, Kyrgios targeted Wimbledon<\/a> as a big goal of his for the season.<\/p>\n

The last time that Kyrgios played at Wimbledon was in 2022, when he reached the singles final before losing to Novak Djokovic<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Wimbledon is by far Kyrgios\u2019 best Grand Slam tournament, having won 71% of his matches there compared to 63% for his next best major, the Australian Open.<\/p>\n
