{"id":245446,"date":"2025-07-07T14:18:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:18:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/245446\/"},"modified":"2025-07-07T14:18:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-07T14:18:09","slug":"ireland-and-wales-pledge-to-strengthen-co-operation-with-2030-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/245446\/","title":{"rendered":"Ireland and Wales Pledge to Strengthen Co-operation with 2030 Agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-93964 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/wales-and-ireland-friendship-table-flag-24117-p-e1751831825156.jpg\" alt=\"wales-and-ireland-friendship-table-flag-24117-p\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\"  \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Plans to deepen co-operation between Ireland and Wales over the next five years were agreed at the Ireland-Wales Forum with the launch of the new Ireland-Wales Shared Statement 2030.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>T\u00e1naiste Simon Harris TD and First Minister of Wales Eluned Morgan launched the new statement \u2013 which will build on the success of the 2021-2025 Ireland-Wales Shared Statement \u2013 in Swansea.<\/p>\n<p>The two governments will commit to develop closer ties in a range of different areas to include cooperation related to renewable energy, research and innovation, while strengthening the historic cultural and linguistic bonds that connect the two nations.<\/p>\n<p>The 2030 Statement establishes a framework for bilateral co-operation until the end of the decade, following on from the previous agreement signed in Cardiff in March 2021.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Statement outlines six areas for collaboration:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Political and Official Engagement<\/li>\n<li>Climate, Energy, Environment and Sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Economy and Trade<\/li>\n<li>Education, Research and Innovation<\/li>\n<li>Culture, Language and Heritage<\/li>\n<li>Communities, Diaspora and Sport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>T\u00e1naiste Simon Harris said:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cOur relationship with Wales remains very important to Ireland. The Shared Statement underlines the breadth of connection between us \u2013 across trade, research, energy, culture and language. This is all underpinned and cemented by our vibrant and rich people-to-people connections.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe new Shared Statement to 2030 allows us build on the excellent cooperation of recent years. It will provide renewed focus and momentum, carrying forward this unique and vibrant partnership into the next decade.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>First Minister Eluned Morgan added:<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThe Statement marks a significant step forward in our relationship with Ireland. By working together on shared priorities we can achieve far more than we could alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis partnership demonstrates the strength of our historic bonds and our commitment to tackling common challenges together. From renewable energy to research, from language to culture, we are united by common values and aspirations.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the Forum, the First Minister and T\u00e1naiste saw tangible examples of co-operation including researchers at Swansea University working with colleagues in Cork and Limerick on energy challenges and energy company MaresConnect, which is building an interconnector between the two countries.
