Rivals<\/a> actor Nigel Adams has said he hopes he can return to filming the\u00a0Disney<\/a>\u00a0Plus show after charges which he was arrested on set for have been dropped.<\/p>\n

The 45-year-old actor was detained by Avon and\u00a0Somerset<\/a>\u00a0Police officers at Berkeley Castle in\u00a0Gloucestershire<\/a>\u00a0last month while filming the Jilly Cooper adaptation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The extra had been shooting a polo scene and was\u00a0reportedly led away in cuffs by six police officers<\/a>\u00a0while he was still in costume.<\/p>\n

The arrest was made during filming for the second series of the hit\u00a0Disney<\/a>+ drama, starring\u00a0Emily Atack<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0David Tennant<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Adams was later charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm against his long-term partner Louise Payne in an incident on March 31 this year.<\/p>\n

The supporting actor, who has also appeared in Doctor Who and Casualty, pleaded not guilty at\u00a0Bristol<\/a>\u00a0Crown Court on Monday morning (July 7).<\/p>\n

The prosecutor Christine Hart said that Louise Payne, who attended the hearing, had \u2018made it clear she didn\u2019t wish to proceed with the case\u2019.<\/p>\n

Adams and Payne spoke outside the court and told the PA news agency they were grateful the case had been dropped.<\/p>\n

Describing his arrest, Adams said: \u2018They turned up on set and nicked me like I was a wanted man on the run.<\/p>\n

\u2018Now I can get back with my agent and get back on Rivals, hopefully. I still have the costume.\u2019<\/p>\n

He added: \u2018I\u2019m grateful everything has been sorted. We just want to get on with our lives.\u2019<\/p>\n

Adams and Payne have been engaged for seven years and are now looking forward to getting married.<\/p>\n

Payne said: \u2018I didn\u2019t want to press charges from the beginning. I had to come to court to say I didn\u2019t want to go ahead with it. I\u2019m happy it\u2019s all sorted.\u2019<\/p>\n

In a statement, Rivals production company Happy Prince said: \u2018On the 4th June, the police visited the set regarding an \u00adunrelated matter involving a supporting artist.<\/p>\n

\u2018Production co-operated with the police. We do not have any further information as it is not connected to Rivals or to our production.\u2019<\/p>\n

As well as the shows mentioned, Adams was also an extra in\u00a0House of the Dragon\u00a0and The Forsyte Saga.<\/p>\n

In 2022, he appeared in the movie Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher, which starred Ray Winstone<\/a>.<\/p>\n
