Eight Leicester Tigers players were involved in a plethora of international matches over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Kicking off with\u00a0Friday’s second round of the 2025 World Rugby U20 Championship, academy back row Samuel Williams started the match at openside flanker as England were defeated 32 – 22 by South Africa.<\/p>\n
In Saturday’s opening match, Scotland were victorious as they faced\u00a0the M\u0101ori\u00a0All Blacks in New Zealand.<\/p>\n
Clashing in the Northern city of\u00a0Whang\u0101rei, lock Cameron Henderson<\/a> started the match and played almost 80 minutes, while Will Hurd<\/a> came off the bench at tighthead prop to help secure a 26 – 29 victory.<\/p>\n Crossing over to East Asia, Wales took\u00a0on Japan in the first of a two match series.<\/p>\n With Nicky Smith<\/a> starting the match and Tommy Reffell<\/a> coming off the bench, the Welsh conceded late on to narrowly lose out to the Brave Blossoms, the hosts winning 24 – 19 at\u00a0Mikuni World Stadium Kitakyushu.<\/p>\n Finally, we finish in South America where Freddie Steward<\/a> started and scored for England in their victory over Argentina.<\/p>\n In the first of two test matches, England triumphed 12 – 35 in\u00a0La Plata.\u00a0Alongside Steward’s well taken try, Joe Heyes<\/a> also showed great awareness to set up Tom Roebuck’s second with quick hands from the ruck, while Jack van Poortvliet<\/a> saw out the final 25 minutes of the contest after coming on in the second half.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Eight Leicester Tigers players were involved in a plethora of international matches over the weekend.
