flying <\/a>into the UK since the middle part of 2021.<\/p>\nAnd the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) advises against all travel to the country that borders Russia and was once part of the Soviet Union.<\/p>\n
The UK Foreign Office says: “FCDO advises against all travel to Belarus.<\/p>\n
“You face a significant risk of arrest if you have at any time engaged in any activity now considered illegal by the Belarusian regime.<\/p>\n
“There is also a low risk that direct conflict linked to the war in Ukraine may spread to Belarus<\/p>\n
“In the unlikely event that conflict starts, FCDO\u2019s ability to support British nationals will be severely limited.”<\/p>\n
For those still opting to travel there, they’d have to get in indirect flights with stopovers in places like Turkey, Dubai, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan or Russia.<\/p>\n
The FCDO adds: “There are no direct flights between Belarus and the UK.<\/p>\n
“Since mid-2021 all Belarusian airlines have been banned from flying into the UK.<\/p>\n
“The EU has closed its airspace to Belarusian registered aircraft and has sanctioned Belavia, the Belarusian state-owned carrier.<\/p>\n
“Due to international restrictions on Belavia, they may not have access to components which are needed for the safe maintenance of their aircraft.<\/p>\n
“UK government staff do not use Belavia.<\/p>\n
“The UK has placed sanctions on some Russian airlines, including Aeroflot, Rossiya Airlines and Ural.<\/p>\n
“It is illegal for any British national or company in the UK to do business with these airlines, including buying airline tickets.<\/p>\n
