After teasing<\/a> a Gemini<\/a>-Wear OS integration for months, Google’s AI appears ready to launch on Android smartwatches.<\/p>\n

A new promo image for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8, leaked by Roland Quandt, shows the words \u201cAsk Google Gemini\u201d on its screen alongside the AI’s logo. As 9to5Google<\/a> notes, this suggests Gemini will first arrive on a Samsung smartwatch before a wider launch on Wear OS.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, Google said Gemini would replace the Google Assistant<\/a> across all compatible products. If you have a smartwatch<\/a> with Assistant onboard, it will eventually be upgraded to Gemini. (Those missing Assistant on their Wear OS watch are out of luck.)<\/p>\n

Gemini for smartwatches was announced alongside Wear OS 6<\/a>, but “Gemini is independent of Wear OS 6,” Jaime Williams, Wear OS’ product manager, told The Verge<\/a> in May. That means existing smartwatches will be able to download Gemini as a separate app rather than waiting until their device gets Wear OS 6.<\/p>\n

This teaser image may be a sign that Google is preparing to roll out the next-gen assistant to everyone after the launch of the Galaxy Watch 8. We should learn more during Samsung Galaxy Unpacked<\/a> on July 9. The event is likely to include the debut of the Galaxy Watch 8 series alongside a Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and various other foldable phones. <\/p>\n
