Three ambulances were seen trying to weave through the build up of traffic leaving the city\"ThreeThree ambulances were seen trying to get through the traffic going onto the M62<\/p>\n

The M62 <\/a>has been closed with cars at a standstill<\/a> leaving the city. Traffic is at a standstill after the motorway was shut from The Rocket to junction five at Huyton<\/a>, with a video sent to the ECHO <\/a>three ambulances blue lighting through the traffic to respond to the incident.<\/p>\n

Merseyside Police<\/a> said it had received reports of a broken down vehicle in lane three of the motorway while traffic monitor Inrix said there had been an accident on the motorway, causing the closure. It said the incident was reported to the monitor shortly after 3.15pm on Monday, July 7.<\/p>\n

National Highways was unaware of the incident and told the ECHO<\/a> there is no planned closures in place currently.<\/p>\n

In the video sent to the ECHO<\/a>, three ambulances struggle to get through the gridlocked traffic, while it has not been confirmed whether the emergency service vehicles were attending the incident on the motorway.<\/p>\n

Cars and vans can be seen sat stationary at The Rocket, unable to move, with police telling the ECHO <\/a>the incident happened before 3pm today.<\/p>\n

Inrix traffic monitor said: “M62 Eastbound blocked, stationary traffic due to accident from A5080 Bowring Park Road (The Rocket) to J5 A5080 Roby Road (Huyton).”<\/p>\n

AA said: “Road blocked and stationary traffic due to crash on M62 Eastbound from A5080 Bowring Park Road (The Rocket) to J5 A5080 Roby Road (Huyton).”<\/p>\n

The AA is now reporting there is delays but traffic is moving at around 10mph.<\/p>\n

The North West Ambulance Service was approached for comment.<\/p>\n
