And it&#8217;s fair to say in his 20 plus years in the business he&#8217;s heard all the wisecracks there are to hear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The two lads look like they&#8217;ve wandered in on their lunch break. &#8216;If I buy that and it&#8217;s too big can I bring it back?,&#8217; asks one, pointing to a pretty large marital aid hung on the wall. &#8220;Yeah, of course you can,&#8221; replies Colin Gibson with a grin and his tongue firmly in cheek. &#8220;The second-hand stuff sells better.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Welcome to <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">Unmissable<\/strong>, our weekly digest of the stories we think you might have missed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This weekend we published Damon Wilkinson\u2019s<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/inside-northern-quarters-last-sex-31976471\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">brilliant read<\/strong> <\/a>on the last remaining sex shop in the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/northern-quarter\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Northern Quarter<\/a>. As an assignment, hanging around outside a sex shop waiting for the queue at Rustica to die down so you can dive through the pink bead curtain of Love Boutique can\u2019t be an easy one. But once inside the shop Damon got a fascinating insight into the changing nature of the adult industry and the Northern Quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">This isn\u2019t really a story about a sex shop, it\u2019s more a piece of social history about the changing face of the Northern Quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;There wouldn&#8217;t be a Northern Quarter without the sex shops,&#8221; says Colin. &#8220;Back then all it was was sex shops and bars\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/inside-northern-quarters-last-sex-31976471\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">It\u2019s well worth a read.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">You may have noticed that this weekend there was a small gig in Cardiff.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Ahead of the main event in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/heaton-park\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Heaton Park<\/a> this coming weekend we<strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/oasis-heaton-park-gig-broke-31914023\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">revisited the last time that Oasis played in Manchester and everything went wrong <\/a><\/strong>&#8211; let\u2019s hope it goes better this time.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Also this weekend we published an <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/chiang-mai-bolton-love-story-31990282\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">extraordinary food review<\/strong><\/a> from What\u2019s On editor Jenna Campbell, rather like our story about a sex shop that wasn\u2019t a story about a sex shop this food review was something a bit different.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A moving immigrant story, a love story with some geo-political perspective thrown in &#8211; it\u2019s a bit special.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Local democracy reporter Nick Jackson is a master of the art of capturing the Vox populi and<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/news\/greater-manchester-news\/we-shouldve-stayed-cheshire-putting-31975568\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> <strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\">this week\u2019s story was no exception.<\/strong><\/a><strong class=\"Strong_strong__e2x35\"> <\/strong>He visited the town of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk\/all-about\/altrincham\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Altrincham<\/a> to find views still wildly divergent on whether the town should rightfully be in Cheshire or Manchester.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">I\u2019ll leave the final word on the subject to one 56-year-old woman who did not wish to be named: \u201cIt doesn\u2019t really matter,\u201d she said. When I was younger, I thought it was important, but I don\u2019t now.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cThere\u2019s so much to be proud of about being part of Greater Manchester. And there\u2019s so much more to Manchester than people realise. We are so lucky.
