Max Homa didn\u2019t win the John Deere Classic but he would have left Silvis, Illinois, on Sunday night in a really positive frame of mind.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Homa<\/a> didn\u2019t falter down the stretch at the John Deere Classic<\/a> \u2013 he just wasn\u2019t on the right end of the lucky breaks you need to win on the PGA Tour<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All in all, it was a great week for the 34-year-old at TPC Deere Run. He swung the club beautifully and actually looked like his old self most of the time.<\/p>\n

Homa\u2019s driving and iron play were both exceptional at the John Deere Classic<\/a>, and he will have undoubtedly taken great belief away with him from TPC Deere Run.<\/p>\n

The hard work seems to be paying off for the popular Californian. Sure, Homa\u2019s putting wasn\u2019t good enough during the final round of the John Deere<\/a>, but he can work on that.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s very much a case of taking baby steps for the six-time PGA Tour winner right now.<\/p>\n

And his T-5 finish at TPC Deere Run was definitely a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n

The man from Burbank, California, must have been absolutely delighted with his performance last week.<\/p>\n

If nothing else, it would have been a great reward for all the hard work he has put in on his game recently.<\/p>\n

Homa took to his official Instagram account last night, and thanked his \u2018unbelievable\u2019 fans for the support that he received all week in Illinois.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cDisappointing finish but huge thx to the John Deere Classic for an amazing week. The fans were unbelievable! I think I lost 15 pounds of water weight so thankful for that as well.\u201c<\/p>\n

It should be a case of onwards and upwards now for Homa. He has proven to himself that his game is still good enough to compete.<\/p>\n

Now he needs to show the consistency that he once possessed. Will he ever get back to the level he was at?<\/p>\n

Nobody knows that right now, but his performance at the John Deere really was mightily impressive to watch.<\/p>\n

Homa looked like a completely different golfer at TPC Deere Run to the one who has struggled so badly for more than a year now.<\/p>\n

The way he drove the ball was brilliant to watch, and the same can be said for his pinpoint iron play.<\/p>\n

What a remarkable turnaround from Homa this week, especially when considering the fact that his average numbers for the season include his stats from the John Deere.<\/p>\n
