Jon Keats, the director of<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/cavern-club\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> The Cavern Club and Cavern Pub<\/a>, has shared what it really takes to keep the Liverpool institution thriving, and the importance of<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/music-nightlife-news\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> grassroots live music venues.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">In the latest episode of Three Landlords Walk Into A Bar podcast, Jon shared stories from the Cavern\u2019s past and present, including an intimate gig from singer<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/liverpool-news\/adele-brick-stolen-cavern-club-22793931\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Adele before she reached the heights of fame she has today<\/a>. Jon also recalled his childhood hero \u201ccasually\u201d strolled into his workplace, leaving him in a state of disbelief.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Elsewhere in the episode, the hospitality industry worker, addressed the hearsay around the visits of one of the most influential guitarists. Jon told co-hosts Jodie Kidd and Merlin Griffiths: \u2018\u2019There\u2019s rumour that Jimi Hendrix played the Cavern.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;It&#8217;s one of those weird ones &#8211; did he or didn&#8217;t he? Well, we say he didn&#8217;t because we&#8217;ve never been able to prove it. He added: \u201cWe&#8217;re losing so many of these grassroots music venues. There are less and less places for people to learn the trade.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;There&#8217;s so many more buskers on the street as there\u2019s less and less opportunities for new bands because new music &#8211; it doesn&#8217;t put money in the till.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u2018\u2019Music is at the heart of the Cavern. The Beatles played 292 times at The Cavern. It&#8217;s a place of pilgrimage &#8211; but for not only Beatles fans but music fans in general.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/0_265431862.jpg\" alt=\"Jimi Hendrix\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Jimi Hendrix<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u2018\u2019You talk about the Cavern and you\u2019ve got to talk about the Beatles. We wouldn\u2019t be here without them. But the Cavern story isn\u2019t just about the Beatles. As owners, as custodians of it &#8211; it\u2019s our job to tell the whole story of it.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u2018\u2019The Cavern is all things to all people. It\u2019s about that shared experience of music. We have live music on every night &#8211; and no one night is the same.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;You might go in one night and there\u2019s a Brazilian Samba band who are visiting.
