Damon Albarn<\/a> has described himself as \u201cprophetic\u201d after he suggested an Oasis<\/a> reunion could happen two years ago \u2013 but he might not be going along to a show himself.<\/p>\n

In 2023, the Blur<\/a> frontman said he thought the \u201croad is clear\u201d for Oasis to get back together<\/a>, and that he\u2019d \u201cput money\u201d on them reuniting<\/a> amid his own band\u2019s comeback tour.<\/p>\n

Two years later, he told Italian newspaper Il Messaggero<\/a>, \u201cThe Oasis reunion? Two years ago I was prophetic when I said that they would do it and that the road was level. Well, you can\u2019t think that two brothers can\u2019t reconcile, sooner or later. It\u2019s a good thing, the way I see it.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if he\u2019d be catching a show, however, he said, \u201cNo: I\u2019m literally too busy.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Oasis and Blur were rivals in the 1990s, the rivalry peaking with the 1995 \u2018Battle of Britpop\u2019<\/a> when Blur\u2019s \u2018Country House\u2019 and Oasis\u2019 \u2018Roll With It\u2019 came out on the same day, the relationship between Blur and the Gallagher brothers seems to have mellowed since.<\/p>\n

In particular, Albarn and Noel<\/a> have collaborated on stage and on the Gorillaz track \u2018We Got The Power\u2019<\/a>, becoming friends after sharing experiences<\/a> in the \u201990s, though Liam<\/a> has also offered friendly words to Blur \u2013\u00a0in 2022, he called Albarn a \u201cgreat songwriter\u201d<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And even if Albarn\u2019s diary is looking packed, his Blur bandmates could be off to see their former rivals. Drummer Dave Rowntree<\/a> might be off to see Oasis himself, saying in September that he\u2019d be \u201cfirst in the queue\u201d<\/a>, while guitarist Graham Coxon<\/a> described the reunion as \u201cgood for fans\u201d<\/a> in October, after saying in 2022 that he\u2019d be happy to see them reform<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Bassist Alex James<\/a> will likely join Albarn in not attending, admitting in December that he \u201cgenuinely won\u2019t be going\u201d<\/a>, but he did describe the reunion as wonderful and \u201cgreat for Blur\u201d<\/a> in April, adding: \u201cIt\u2019s awful that most bands end up hating each other.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for Albarn, he\u2019s got some one-off live Gorillaz shows to look forward to<\/a> from August 29 to September 3 in London. They\u2019ll see him joined on stage with the full Gorillaz<\/a> band and backed by visuals from Jamie Hewlett as the band play their earliest albums in full. There\u2019s also set to be another Gorillaz album<\/a> coming later this year.<\/p>\n

Albarn has also brought back his Africa Express project this year. In May, they announced their first album since 2019, Africa Express Presents\u2026 Bahidora.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Oasis reunion tour, meanwhile, resumes on Friday (July 11) at Manchester\u2019s Heaton Park for the first of five huge homecoming dates.<\/p>\n

In a glowing five-star review of the tour\u2019s opening night<\/a> in Cardiff last weekend, NME wrote: \u201cIt\u2019s breezy and drama-free, complete with a classy tribute<\/a> to the late Diogo Jota<\/a>. Noel has a cheeky mention of the dynamic pricing fiasco<\/a>, and later Liam asks: \u201cIs it worth the \u00a340,000 you paid for the ticket?\u201d As the flares light up for \u2018Don\u2019t Look Back In Anger\u2019 into the spoils of colossal closers \u2018Wonderwall\u2019 and an everlasting \u2018Champagne Supernova\u2019, the sweet escape comes to an end. Lord knows we needed a taste of that halcyon \u201890s hope and abandon in 2025 \u2013 especially for the raving and craving Gen-Zers. The world is a rotting shitty bin-fire and tomorrow never knows, but tonight, you\u2019re a rock\u2019n\u2019roll star.\u201d<\/p>\n
