{"id":24672,"date":"2025-04-16T11:56:16","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T11:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24672\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T11:56:16","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T11:56:16","slug":"shipping-firm-motis-doubles-profits-as-it-drives-further-into-europe-the-irish-news","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24672\/","title":{"rendered":"Shipping firm Motis doubles profits as it drives further into Europe \u2013 The Irish News"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Shipping firm Motis has revealed another improved trading performance as it continues to increase services on freight ferries, rail and road to companies throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Results filed at Companies House show that the Newry-headquartered company had sales of \u00a358.9 million in the 12 months to June 2024, up 8% on the previous year\u2019s figure of \u00a354.6m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">And retained profit at the firm &#8211; which bills itself as \u201ca European haulier\u2019s one-stop shop\u201d &#8211; almost doubled to \u00a31,608,314 (from \u00a3882,612 previously), while it reduced its liabilities from \u00a33.2m in 2023 to \u00a32.8m last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Motis, which operates across 500 freight ferry routes and serves more than 3,000 customers across Europe, is a private company founded 23 years ago by friends David McComb (58) and Patrick Hutley (55), who remain directors along with Paul King (56) and Christopher Polwart (49).<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/business\/concrete-group-fined-for-polluting-lough-neagh-tributary-river-56XGLENCSRETFDBYJEZZQHMCZE\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Concrete group fined for polluting Lough Neagh tributary river\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1744804575_524_2N2FK2P3SVDTDBNEGE24IBY5WI.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><a class=\"c-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.irishnews.com\/news\/business\/economic-and-well-being-gaps-between-northern-ireland-and-the-republic-are-widening-new-study-shows-CZZDAGBQ25G3FJEIFJ5UAYFO5Q\/\" aria-hidden=\"true\" tabindex=\"-1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"Economic and well-being gaps between Northern Ireland and the Republic are &#x2018;widening&#x2019;, new study shows\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/1744804576_391_4EY2Z5RR5FA2FJ2GYDKG2IBMTI.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"450\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The directors say they consider the results for the year to be satisfactory, despite operating in a very competitive marketplace, and they anticipate that the current levels of performance \u201cwill be maintained or improved upon in 2025\u2033.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">They added: \u201cWe are committed to long term creation of shareholder value by increasing market share through a continued combination of organic growth, including new branch openings and acquisitions.
