Carol, who is best known for her work on serial killer Peter Tobin\u2019s case, was awarded an honorary degree for advancing the field of forensic science, particularly in relation to investigations of sexual offences across Scotland. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Both Patrick and Carol joined 2000 students, families and guests at an impressive ceremony in Edinburgh\u2019s Usher Hall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong>Patrick Grant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/thumbnail_250707_qmu_graduation_0289-scaled.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1704\" height=\"2560\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/thumbnail_250707_qmu_graduation_0289-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-208884\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>A prominent figure in the British fashion industry and founder of the social enterprise Community Clothing, Patrick Grant is an advocate for sustainability and building strong communities through entrepreneurship.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Brought up in Edinburgh, he has developed an international reputation as a champion of UK textile manufacturing, supporting local communities while producing high-quality, long-lasting garments. His book \u2019Less\u2019, published in 2024 and a Sunday Times Bestseller, details his commitment to reducing consumption and embracing circular, regenerative fashion.\u202f\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Over the past two decades, Patrick has built a distinguished career in the fashion industry \u2013 working with global brands including Cartier, Rolls-Royce, BMW, Barbour, and Alexander McQueen, and always advocating for craftsmanship and quality.\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He revitalised Savile Row tailor Norton &amp; Sons, relaunched men\u2019s tailoring brand E. Tautz \u2013 winning Menswear Designer of the Year at the British Fashion Awards \u2013 and led Debenhams\u2019 most successful designer collaboration with Hammond &amp; Co.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">In 2015, his passion for British manufacturing resulted in the rescue of Blackburn-based clothing factory Cookson &amp; Clegg. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">This experience inspired him to launch <a href=\"https:\/\/communityclothing.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Community Clothing<\/a> in 2016, a pioneering initiative that earned him widespread recognition for revitalising the UK garment industry.\u00a0 Community Clothing\u2019s makes and sells UK clothing at a fraction of the price of premium brands, and has a strong focus on sustainability, job creation and building local economic prosperity.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Patrick has also become a familiar face on television. In addition to the \u2018The Great British Sewing Bee\u2019 (nominated for a BAFTA in 2022), he presented the award-winning documentary \u2018Coronation Tailors: Fit for a King\u2019, appeared on BBC Radio 4\u2019s \u2019Desert Island Discs\u2019, and won BBC One\u2019s \u2019Celebrity Mastermind\u2019. <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He has written for a variety of publications, including\u202fThe Financial Times, The Times, The Sun, The Daily Mail and GQ.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Sir Paul Grice, Principal of Queen Margaret University, said: \u201cPatrick has had a meaningful and hugely impactful career as a designer, entrepreneur, writer and sustainability champion.<\/strong> <\/p>\n<p class=\"\">\u201cHis work resonates with the University\u2019s strong social justice ethos, and our commitment to building strong communities and acting as a force for good. His passion for combining entrepreneurialism, skill and people-focused thinking to create thriving communities aligns with QMU\u2019s purpose of shaping a better society through teaching and research.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.qmu.ac.uk\/about-the-university\/honorary-graduates\/carol-rogers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Carol Rogers<\/a><\/strong><strong> \u2013 Forensic operation lead \u2013 Major Crime (Sexual Offences)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/nen.press\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/thumbnail_250707_qmu_graduation_0257.jpg?ssl=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1920\" height=\"1277\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/thumbnail_250707_qmu_graduation_0257.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-208885\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><strong>As National Lead Forensic Scientist for Sexual Offences with the Scottish Police Authority\u2019s Forensic Services, Carol Rogers has advanced forensic science, bringing justice to countless victims of sexual offences.\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"\">As one of the most respected experts in her field, Carol has dedicated over two decades of her life to the meticulous and often harrowing work of forensics.
