{"id":248016,"date":"2025-07-08T12:47:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T12:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/248016\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T12:47:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T12:47:09","slug":"post-office-scandal-hit-fujitsu-vies-for-lucrative-brexit-border-contract-politico","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/248016\/","title":{"rendered":"Post Office scandal-hit Fujitsu vies for lucrative Brexit border contract \u2013 POLITICO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cThe continued award of lucrative government contracts to Fujitsu, while victims of their failures remain inadequately compensated, sends a deeply troubling message about our values as a government,\u201d she added. \u201cIt suggests that corporate irresponsibility carries no meaningful consequences, and that public money can be earned even after causing immense harm to innocent citizens.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fujitsu\u2019s bid to continue the operation of the TSS raises \u201cprofound questions about accountability in public procurement and justice for Horizon victims\u201d and sends a \u201cdeeply troubling message about our values as a government,\u201d the MP continued.<\/p>\n<p>Osborne \u2014 whose constituent Chris Head is among the subpostmasters still waiting for compensation \u2014 urged the government to implement an immediate moratorium on awarding new contracts to Fujitsu until they have made a substantial financial contribution to victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo many lives have been ruined by the Post Office and Fujitsu,\u201d she said. \u201cWhilst nothing can ever compensate for how they have been treated, it is sickening that people like my constituent Chris Head have not received any compensation yet Fujitsu are raking in billions of pounds from government contracts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Competere\u2019s CEO, Singham, serves as \u201cpolicy lead of the Trader Support Service Consortium,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/competere.co.uk\/shanker-singham-trade-expert-bio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">according to the firm&#8217;s website<\/a>. He is also chairman of the Growth <a href=\"https:\/\/www.growth-commission.com\/the-commissioners\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Growth Commission<\/a>, a free-market economic think tank <a href=\"https:\/\/news.sky.com\/story\/liz-truss-hints-her-disastrous-mini-budget-would-have-worked-out-12919383\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">founded by Truss<\/a> in 2023. He served as an advisor to the Truss back in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Singham castigated the current Labour government&#8217;s new Trade Strategy late last month as chairman of the Growth Commission.
