While millions of Brits are struggling to build their savings as costs continue to skyrocket, one savvy young woman has managed to stash an eye-watering \u00a3100,000 by the age of 24 – and she\u2019s planning to retire<\/a> at 40.<\/p>\n

Mia Rose McGrath, from London, has \u201calmost \u00a3100,000 in savings and investments\u201d and lives by strict financial rules<\/a> so she can \u201csoft retire\u201d a whopping 26 years before most of her peers.<\/p>\n

The fashion worker, who has racked up more than 143,000 TikTok followers<\/a>, regularly shares her brutally honest money-saving tips online. And she\u2019s not afraid to call out the habits keeping her generation broke. \u201cTrying to be cool or aesthetic is making you broke,\u201d Mia declared in one viral video.<\/p>\n

For her, splurging \u00a338 on a trendy Rhode phone case or buying a new outfit just to look \u201caesthetic\u201d on Instagram<\/a> is a total waste of cash.<\/p>\n

Reflecting on her own spending, Mia admitted: \u201cI realised I was doing it for other people, not for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

The thrifty 24-year-old says there are four common mistakes draining young people\u2019s bank accounts:<\/p>\n

Content cannot be displayed without consent1. Chasing trends you can’t afford<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t need the latest trending item – a Labubu, a Coach bag. It\u2019s not essential,\u201d she warned.<\/p>\n

Mia says it\u2019s fine to save up for something you really love, but only if it\u2019s for you – not just to keep up appearances.<\/p>\n

\u201cI guarantee if you waited 30 days to buy it, you wouldn\u2019t want it anymore,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

2. Thinking saving small amounts is pointless<\/p>\n

Mia started her own savings journey as a cash-strapped student, putting aside whatever she could from her maintenance grant.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf it\u2019s \u00a310, \u00a350, no matter how small it is, it\u2019s still worth doing,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

3. Saying you\u2019re \u2018too busy\u2019 for a side hustle<\/p>\n

\u201cStop using the excuse that you don\u2019t have enough time. You just don\u2019t want to enough,\u201d Mia told her followers.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s juggled a full-time office job while building extra income streams, including content creation and personal branding.<\/p>\n

4. Hoping a rich man will rescue you<\/p>\n

Mia slammed the idea that a woman can just sit in her \u201csoft feminine energy\u201d and wait for a wealthy partner to fund her dream lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to work hard and have your own money,\u201d she said. \u201cSure, if you meet someone who earns more than you, that\u2019s a bonus. But make sure you have your own finances sorted first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Mia is on track to retire by 40 – or at least scale back to a life on her own terms. And she insists anyone can follow in her footsteps if they ditch bad money habits and get serious.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t need to make six figures to save. You just need discipline.\u201d<\/p>\n
