Crystal Palace<\/a> are eyeing a move to sign Chelsea<\/a> sensation Josh Acheampong on a season-long loan, according to Mike McGrath.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Eagles are looking to strengthen their squad after winning the FA Cup<\/a> for the first time in their history last season, and they are now looking to bolster the team ahead of their maiden Europa League<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n

The defence is an area that Oliver Glasner wants to strengthen as a matter of importance, and now a new target has emerged who could make the move to Selhurst Park.<\/p>\n

Acheampong, who has been described as ‘phenomenal’<\/a>, broke into the squad at Stamford Bridge last season and made 14 appearances for the first-team under Enzo Maresca following a contract dispute.<\/p>\n

Manager Maresca claimed he was “in love” with the player<\/a>, such is his talent, but with an abundance of options in the squad in west London and a Champions League<\/a> campaign to come in 2025\/26, Palace are looking at the potential of taking him on loan for a season to provide him with a platform to play more regularly.<\/p>\n

Palace have a great relationship with Chelsea having previously signed Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Conor Gallagher and Trevoh Chalobah on loan, with all of those returning to the Blues and paving a career as a regular in their first-team.<\/p>\n

The Eagles are now hoping to use that to their advantage to get one of the top young prospects in England across the city for the upcoming season. Chelsea are currently unsure about what they want to do with Acheampong for the campaign, but Palace’s interest has been noted.<\/p>\n

Palace captain Marc Guehi is expected to leave this summer as he enters the final 12 months of his contract, with Liverpool showing a strong interest<\/a>, while the Eagles are keen to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting CP as his replacement<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Acheampong’s ability to play as a centre-back or right-back makes him a prime contender to come into Glasner’s squad, in what would be a real coup.<\/p>\n\n
