Pacquiao Says Mayweather\u2019s \u201cScared to Death\u201d, Wants Jake Paul Ranked, and Hatton on a Diet<\/strong><\/p>\n

Manny Pacquiao\u2019s back at it. In an interview with Covers.com<\/a>, Pacquiao is talking about Floyd, praising Jake Paul, quoting Churchill, and dragging Ricky Hatton\u2019s belly into the conversation for no reason whatsoever. The man\u2019s 46, still training like a lunatic, and sounding like he\u2019s halfway between a comeback and a midlife rant.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s fighting Mario Barrios on July 19, but don\u2019t worry, he\u2019s got enough time to take shots at everyone else in the sport too.<\/p>\n

\u201cMayweather\u2019s scared to death to fight me again\u201d<\/p>\n

Straight out the gate, Pacquiao reignited the corpse of the Mayweather rivalry.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think Floyd Mayweather will fight me again, he\u2019s scared to death to fight again, that\u2019s what I\u2019m thinking.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Absolutely shameless. The man lost to Floyd a decade ago in the most overhyped snooze-fest in boxing history, and he\u2019s still begging for a rerun like a fan outside the MGM Grand.<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a huge fight [between me and Mayweather] but there\u2019s a lot of reasons or alibis for why he didn\u2019t make it [the rematch with me].\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cLots of excuses, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Excuses, or maybe Floyd just doesn\u2019t fancy pretending it\u2019s 2015 while chasing a gasping 46-year-old around the ring in Saudi Arabia. Can\u2019t blame him.<\/p>\n

Pacquiao: Jake Paul deserves a world ranking \u2013 You reading this, WBC?<\/p>\n

Pacquiao, a Hall-of-Famer, actually said this:<\/p>\n

\u201cI respect Jake Paul\u2019s passion to pursue his boxing career, he has a talent.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe can fight so why not [give him a world ranking]?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Why not? Maybe because it\u2019s an insult to every fighter scraping their way through small halls and dusty gyms to earn an actual ranking. But sure, give it to the influencer with three actual boxers on his record and a camera crew for every spar.<\/p>\n

He drags Churchill into this too \u2013 Seriously?<\/p>\n

Apparently getting iced by Marquez and snubbed by the Olympics still stings, because now Pacquiao\u2019s quoting British wartime speeches to justify his comeback.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe critics are always there\u2026<\/p>\n

But I have always been inspired by the saying of Winston Churchill: \u2018You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Mate, you\u2019re not storming Normandy. You\u2019re boxing a fringe contender after a decade out. Relax.<\/p>\n

On Ricky Hatton: \u201cHe gained a lot\u201d \u2013 Cheers for that, Manny<\/p>\n

Why Hatton caught a stray here, no one knows. But Pacquiao went full pub-level banter:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s good for Ricky Hatton [that he\u2019s making a comeback] because when I saw him he gained a lot of weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe gained a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

We get it. Ricky likes a pint. You didn\u2019t have to say it twice. Bit rich coming from a bloke pushing 50 still chasing relevance, but hey\u2014punch down if you can\u2019t punch up.<\/p>\n

33 rounds in a single day? Who\u2019s he trying to convince?<\/p>\n

\u201c33 rounds of sparring, doing mitts and the heavy bag\u2026 I can still do the same as when I was young.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Cool story. But most fighters don\u2019t brag about 33 rounds unless they\u2019re trying to prove they still belong. Overtraining is not a personality. If you\u2019re doing 33 rounds and still need to convince yourself, maybe it\u2019s not about fitness\u2014it\u2019s about ego.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can still be a champion at 46\u201d \u2013 Or you just can\u2019t let go?<\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI still have the fire in my eyes and in my heart\u2026 I\u2019m punishing myself to the limit.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n

\u201cEven at the age of 46 I can still be a champion and that I can still fight.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

No one doubts your work ethic, but let\u2019s be honest\u2014this ain\u2019t about legacy anymore. This is about pride, noise, and keeping the cameras on. You\u2019re not chasing greatness. You\u2019re avoiding retirement.<\/p>\n

So what\u2019s it really about? Floyd? Jake Paul? A Churchill quote? Or is Manny Pacquiao just another legend who can\u2019t stand silence?<\/p>\n

One thing\u2019s for sure: the gloves are back on, but the filter is completely off. And the more he talks, the more you wonder\u2014who exactly is he trying to convince?<\/strong><\/p>\n
