{"id":248401,"date":"2025-07-08T16:12:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-08T16:12:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/248401\/"},"modified":"2025-07-08T16:12:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-08T16:12:10","slug":"zero-visibility-isack-hadjar-explains-kimi-antonelli-crash-as-liam-lawson-rues-missed-opportunity-for-racing-bulls-at-silverstone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/248401\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Zero visibility\u2019 \u2013 Isack Hadjar explains Kimi Antonelli crash as Liam Lawson rues missed opportunity for Racing Bulls at Silverstone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">Racing Bulls had a day to forget at the British Grand Prix, with both Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar crashing out on a day where many of their midfield rivals scored big points.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">Lawson was the first to exit the race after he collided with Esteban Ocon\u2019s Haas on the opening lap, in what the stewards deemed a racing incident. While <a class=\"text-brand-hot-red underline decoration-1 hover:decoration-[3px]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/drivers\/esteban-ocon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ocon<\/a> was able to continue, the New Zealander was forced into immediate retirement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\"><a class=\"text-brand-hot-red underline decoration-1 hover:decoration-[3px]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/drivers\/isack-hadjar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hadjar<\/a> had avoided much of the opening lap chaos by pitting at the end of the Formation Lap for slick tyres, along with George Russell, Charles Leclerc, Ollie Bearman and Gabriel Bortoleto \u2013 a move that was soon proven to be the wrong strategy call.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">When the race came back together after a Safety Car period, Hadjar found himself behind the Mercedes of <a class=\"text-brand-hot-red underline decoration-1 hover:decoration-[3px]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/drivers\/kimi-antonelli\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kimi Antonelli<\/a> but, just as the Safety Car peeled off the track and racing resumed, the rookie barreled into the back of the Mercedes, retiring immediately.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">\u201cRacing in these tough conditions means that it\u2019s always a little bit of a gamble out there,\u201d Hadjar explained following his collision. &#8220;At the start of the race, I was following Charles [Leclerc] and it seemed we had a good pace; we were on the same strategy, but it wasn&#8217;t the right one.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">\u201cDuring the laps we spent behind the Safety Car, I couldn\u2019t see much due to the heavy rain and the tyre temperature dropped.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">&#8220;After the restart, I wish I could have maybe had a bit more margin, but when I saw the red light of the back of Kimi\u2019s car, it was already too late as there was just zero visibility. Thankfully, I\u2019m okay.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">The incident also sent Antonelli into retirement as well, with both drivers emerging unscathed from what could have been a nasty crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">Lawson was also fortunately uninjured from his collision, and was left rueing what he believed was a missed opportunity for the team at Silverstone.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">\u201cIt is a shame, I think we would have had a very good car today and obviously in a race like this, anything can happen,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">\u201cIt\u2019s just an opportunity that we\u2019ve now missed out on, and I wasn\u2019t really trying to be aggressive, I had a really good start, a path sort of opened up for us and I just wanted to survive the first lap.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"typography-module_body-s-regular__ul7F5 typography-module_md_body-m-regular__d9VRg typography-module_lg_body-l-regular__dPa5z\">Following the British Grand Prix and their double DNF, Racing Bulls have dropped from sixth to seventh <a class=\"text-brand-hot-red underline decoration-1 hover:decoration-[3px]\" href=\"https:\/\/www.formula1.com\/en\/results\/2025\/team\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in the standings<\/a>, overtaken by Kick Sauber, and are now on equal points with Aston Martin, who scored with both cars.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Racing Bulls had a day to forget at the British Grand Prix, with both Liam Lawson and Isack&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":248402,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4103],"tags":[4199,707,4200,79,16,15],"class_list":{"0":"post-248401","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-f1","8":"tag-f1","9":"tag-formula-1","10":"tag-formula1","11":"tag-sports","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@uk\/114818498356467860","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/248401","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=248401"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/248401\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/248402"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=248401"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=248401"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=248401"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
