Leeds United have made Gabriel Gudmundsson their fourth signing of the summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s been a positive transfer window so far for Leeds United,<\/a> even if Sunderland did beat them to Habib Dairra<\/a> and other targets, as they prepare for their return to the Premier League.<\/a><\/p>\n

Lukas Nmecha was the first new arrival<\/a> on a free transfer, while centre-back pairing Jaka Bijol and Sebastiaan Bornauw were recruited<\/a> for a combined \u00a320m.<\/p>\n

Now, Daniel Farke<\/a> has taken further steps to enhance his defence by signing Gabriel Gudmundsson<\/a> from French side Lille, subject to a work permit and international clearance.<\/p>\n

Gudmundsson is a like-for-like replacement for Junior Firpo,<\/a> with the left-back choosing to leave Elland Road<\/a> upon the expiration of his contract.<\/p>\n

Firpo set up 10 goals and scored four himself<\/a> in the Championship and played a major role in the 100-point title triumph.<\/p>\n

Replacing him was one of Farke\u2019s biggest tasks in the transfer window<\/a> and he has succeeded with the arrival of the Swedish international.<\/p>\n

Gudmundsson first emerged as a target<\/a> in June and Leeds United News<\/strong> learned that talks between the club and player<\/a> were accelerating towards an agreement last week.<\/p>\n

With personal terms all but settled, Leeds still had to agree a fee<\/a> with Ligue 1 side Lille, with figures as low as \u00a38m quoted.<\/p>\n

However, it\u2019s reported by Santi Aouna of\u00a0Foot Mercato<\/a> that the actual fee Leeds will pay is slightly higher at around \u00a310.3 million (\u20ac12m).<\/p>\n

That takes Leeds\u2019 total spending in the transfer window<\/a> to just over \u00a330m, though the club have announced the fee officially as undisclosed.<\/p>\n

Given reports suggest Farke will have over \u00a3100m to spend<\/a> on new players this summer, that leaves a lot of room in the budget for a striker, midfielder and goalkeeper.<\/p>\n

Gabriel Gudmundsson contract details<\/p>\n

Leeds have confirmed that Gudmundsson has put pen to paper on a four-year deal with the club.<\/p>\n

That will keep the 26-year-old at Elland Road<\/a> until 2029, which could see him spend the rest of the peak years of his career in Yorkshire.<\/p>\n

According to Swedish journalist Anel Avdic, Gudmundsson will earn around \u00a370,000 a week at Leeds,<\/a> or 50m kronor per year.<\/p>\n

It is unclear if that wage is before or after tax, or if it is net pay or gross pay, but it still represents a massive pay rise for the player.<\/p>\n

It also immediately puts Gudmundsson among the highest earners in the Leeds squad.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
