Grantchester<\/a>, the long-standing and beloved ITV<\/a> detective drama, will conclude with its 11th season. <\/p>\n

The series<\/a> has been a mainstay on the small screen since 2014, with James Norton<\/a>, Tom Brittney<\/a> and Rishi Nair all assuming the role of the reverend who teams up with DI Geordie Keating (Robson Green<\/a>). <\/p>\n

The journey will come to an end, however, with ITV confirming that the newly-announced 11th season is the show’s final chapter. This will bring an end to a decade’s worth of stories from the titular Cambridgeshire village. <\/p>\n

The final episodes, taking place in the summer of 1963, will see Nair’s Alphy Kotteram<\/a> gradually learn more about his past, with the reverend beginning to “question” his beliefs and himself as he ponders the “other” life he “could have led”.<\/p>\n

DI Keating, meanwhile, is said to be “brimming with bonhomie” as he enjoys a period of “relative peace”. His life changes, however, when he receives a “beguiling offer” from the Chief Superintendent \u2013 a proposition that could spell the end of his partnership with <\/p>\n

Nair and Green aren’t the only stars to return, with Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Bradley Hall and Melissa Johns all set to reprise their respective roles.<\/p>\n

“In [season] 11 everyone will question the paths they are on, and some huge decisions will be made. This season will look at family, forgiveness, identity, and faith,” reads the logline, which also teases some “big changes” that will be made in the village.<\/p>\n

“From the very beginning, I have had the incredible fortune to be part of this extraordinary team of talented, passionate, and dedicated individuals who have become more than colleagues,” said Green, who described the cast and crew as “family”. <\/p>\n

“The bonds we\u2019ve formed extend far beyond the camera lens, and I know that they will endure long after the final scene… I am forever grateful for the memories, friendships and love that this journey has given me. I hope I made you proud.”<\/p>\n

Nair, who joined the series in the ninth season<\/a>, added: “It\u2019s been the greatest honour to step into the world of Grantchester and be part of a show with so much heart. As we begin filming this final chapter, I do so with a full heart and endless gratitude.”<\/p>\n

Series creator Daisy Coulam, who also serves as a writer and executive producer, said: “At its heart, Grantchester is a show about the power of friendship and love. We\u2019ve been so lucky over the last 11 series to experience that on and off screen. <\/p>\n

“For over a decade now – cast and crew (many who\u2019ve been there since the beginning) have met each Summer to film. And it\u2019s been an absolute joy\u2026 Thank you to everyone who\u2019s been a part of the show in any way – big or small. I\u2019ll miss you terribly.”<\/p>\n

Season 9 wrapped up back in February, with season 10 already airing in the US. A UK release date is not yet known. <\/p>\n

Grantchester airs in the UK on ITV1 and streams on ITVX. <\/strong><\/p>\n
