2<\/p>\n Frederick Danquah, 28, is accused of trying to kill the two-year-old at Glasgow’s Garrowhill train stationCredit: Steve Welsh 2<\/p>\n The trial at Glasgow High Court continues before Judge Tony KellyCredit: GETTY<\/p>\n Court<\/a> papers claim Danquah placed the boy, whom was in his care, on his shoulders and stepped in front of a moving train.<\/p>\n The train is alleged to have struck Danquah and the boy to his severe injury, danger of life and attempted murder<\/a>.<\/p>\n Danquah faces a separate charge of culpable and recklessly carrying the boy on his shoulders and thereafter repeatedly attempted to climb over a fence on the M8 public footbridge.<\/p>\n The charge claims he attempted to pull himself and the boy over the fence with a total disregard for the safety of the toddler and users of the motorway<\/a> below.<\/p>\n READ MORE ON THE SCOTTISH SUN<\/p>\n This is claimed to have been to the danger of the boy\u2019s life, Danquah\u2019s own life and the lives of the road users of the motorway below.<\/p>\n A final charge accuses Danquah, of the city\u2019s Lambhill, of breaching bail conditions imposed on him on August 3, 2023, by making calls and texts requesting to speak to the boy or ex-partner Justina Paulaskatie.<\/p>\n A special defence<\/a> has been lodged which states that Danquah was unable to understand the wrongfulness of their actions due to a mental disorder.<\/p>\n The High Court in Glasgow was read at the start of the trial a joint minute of agreed evidence by advocate depute Michael Macintosh.<\/p>\n Mr Macintosh stated that the train struck Danquah and the boy just before 7.20pm.<\/p>\n The boy was found to have worn a rucksack which had a handwritten note inside of it.<\/p>\n Cops and forensics at the scene of an attempted murder in George Street, Paisley<\/p>\n The boy sustained surface wounds to his forehead, head, back, face and nose.<\/p>\n Danquah meantime suffered fractures to his lower spine and his jaw.<\/p>\n Danquah\u2019s former partner Justina Paulaskatie, 26, then told the court that the pair met at work in an Amazon warehouse in North Lanarkshire<\/a>.<\/p>\n Their relationship<\/a> ended in February 2023, but they continued to live together.<\/p>\n Miss Paulaskatie told jurors that she began a new relationship with a fellow colleague.<\/p>\n She claimed that Danquah was initially \u201cokay\u201d but became \u201cunhappy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n The witness stated that the night before the incident Danquah told her by text message from work to stop dating<\/a> their colleague.<\/p>\n Jurors heard that Miss Paulaskatie later said to Danquah in person that she would not get back together with him.<\/p>\n Miss Paulaskatie told police<\/a> in a statement: \u201cI said that Frederick should go to his parents and don\u2019t come back.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said he loved me and he should have tried harder to make the relationship work.<\/p>\n \u201cHe said he wasn\u2019t coming back and I thought he meant he was going to live with his parents, not that he was going to kill himself.\u201d<\/p>\n Jurors were then shown a lengthy Facebook<\/a> post written by Danquah from later that day which the court heard may have been a suicide<\/a> note.<\/p>\n Part of the note read: \u201cI should have tried harder, I never knew what I had until I lost it, too little too late I guess, I can\u2019t continue to live in this darkness, I guess this is goodbye.\u201d<\/p>\n Miss Paulaskatie stated that she and her friends looked for Danquah around the Coatbridge area where they lived at the time.<\/p>\n They then reported the Facebook post to the local police station.<\/p>\n Officers later informed Miss Paulaskatie about the incident with the train.<\/p>\n Mr Macintosh asked Miss Paulaskatie what condition the boy was in.<\/p>\n She replied: \u201cHe was lying and he couldn\u2019t move his body.<\/p>\n \u201cThey didn\u2019t know if there was anything wrong with him – he wasn\u2019t awake but he kind of was as his eyes were half open.<\/p>\n \u201cThe nurse said he could hear but he was in shock – he had a lot of bruises.\u201d<\/p>\n The court heard that the boy has since recovered from his injuries.<\/p>\n Jurors heard that Danquah was granted bail and ordered not to contact her or the boy.<\/p>\n The court was shown a lengthy Merry Christmas<\/a> message allegedly sent to Miss Paulaskatie in which Danquah apologised for what happened.<\/p>\n Gary Allan KC, defending, asked the witness if Danquah looked after the boy well while in his care.<\/p>\n She replied: \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p>\n Danquah\u2019s brother-in-law Victor Oso, 29, told the court that he met him and the boy earlier that day north of Glasgow city centre.<\/p>\n![\"Garrowhill](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/22-jan-weather-garrowhill-train-873792874.jpg\")
