Prince William<\/a> and Princess Kate<\/a> could be feeling slightly emotional today as a special anniversary takes place. On Wednesday, it marks seven years since the christening of their youngest son Prince Louis<\/a>, who turned seven in April.<\/a><\/p>\n

The young prince, who is known for his cheeky antics on the royal stage<\/a>, is unlikely to have any recollection of the special day, however his parents the Prince and Princess of Wales certainly will. Taking place in the Chapel Royal at St James’s Palace, the day was attended by a number of family members.<\/p>\n

This included King Charles and Queen Camilla, who were not on the throne at the time, Prince Harry<\/a>, Meghan Markle<\/a>, and Louis\u2019 siblings Prince George and Princess Charlotte.<\/p>\n

Princess Kate\u2019s parents Michael<\/a> and Carole Middleton also attended, along with her siblings James and Pippa.<\/p>\n

On the day of the young prince\u2019s christening, a list of the family and friends William, 43, and Kate, 43, had chosen to be Louis\u2019 godparents was also released, with each of these godparents present.<\/p>\n

The six godparents chosen for Louis were Nicholas van Cutsem, Guy Pelly, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher, the Lady Laura Meade, Mrs. Robert Carter and Kate\u2019s cousin Lucy Middleton.<\/p>\n

The day was also special as it featured a lot of historic royal traditions, which included the robe worn by Prince Louis.<\/p>\n

Although it wasn\u2019t the traditional robe which was made in 1841 and worn by a number of royals for their christenings, including the late Queen, it was instead a handmade replica of the Royal Christening Robe. This had been made by Angela Kelly, dressmaker to the late Queen<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The young royal was also christened in The Lily Font – a silver baptismal font which was commissioned by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1840 after the birth of their first child, Victoria.<\/p>\n

As confirmed by the Royal Family at the time, the water used during the baptism from the River Jordan.<\/p>\n

While the day may seem long ago now, it is likely William and Kate will reminisce fondly of the special occasion today before William jets to Switzerland to attend the UEFA Women\u2019s Euro match<\/a> to watch England play against Netherlands.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Prince William and Princess Kate could be feeling slightly emotional today as a special anniversary takes place.
