{"id":24980,"date":"2025-04-16T14:36:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-16T14:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24980\/"},"modified":"2025-04-16T14:36:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-16T14:36:09","slug":"bbc-breakfast-chaos-as-reporter-loses-notebook-in-birmingham-rubbish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/24980\/","title":{"rendered":"BBC Breakfast chaos as reporter loses notebook in Birmingham rubbish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fiona Lamdin suffered a huge blunder when she managed to lose her notebook in Birmingham while fronting BBC Breakfast<\/p>\n<p>08:57, 16 Apr 2025Updated 08:57, 16 Apr 2025<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A BBC Breakfast reporter&#8217;s huge blunder was unveiled live on-air after she managed to misplace her notebook while hosting the TV programme.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fiona Lamdin was reporting live from <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham<\/a> as she gave viewers the latest updates on the on-going dispute between <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/birmingham-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Birmingham City Council<\/a> and the Unite union during Wednesday&#8217;s (16 April).<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As her segment came to a close, BBC Breakfast host Jon Kay took the opportunity to tell viewers about Fiona&#8217;s mishap, which had occurred during Tuesday&#8217;s broadcast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Fiona, thank you very much indeed,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Just before you go Fiona, I heard a rumour that a certain <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.birminghammail.co.uk\/all-about\/bbc\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">BBC<\/a> reporter lost her notebook in a pile of rubbish yesterday and had to go rumaging through the piles of bins looking for it. Hasn&#8217;t got any old teabags stuck to it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Fiona has been hosting live segments from the streets of Birmingham as hundreds of bin workers continue to strike in the city. The strike began on 11 March in retaliation to Birmingham City Council, and has led to dozens of bin bags and fly-tipped rubbish piling up on the streets.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">A rally was held by striking workers on Tuesday (15 April), after Unite union members rejected the council&#8217;s most recent pay offer. Further negotations are expected to take place soon.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/0_Screenshot-2025-04-16-083535.jpg\" alt=\"Fiona Lamdin \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Fiona managed to retrieve her notebook from the rubbish<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Richard Parker, Labour mayor of the West Midlands, has insisted the strikes are not a \u201clocalised failure\u201d based on problems unique to Birmingham, but part of the wider demise of local authority funding.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cAs bins pile up and pressures mount, the country looks on as if this is the result of some uniquely Brummie dysfunction,\u201d Mr Parker wrote in a piece for BirminghamLive. \u201cBut to treat it as some kind of localised failure \u2014 the result of poor choices or civic decline \u2014 is to ignore the bigger picture.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe\u2019ve been caricatured as post-industrial relics, dismissed as too messy, too complex, too far gone.
