Wednesday announced the news today<\/a>, the day after revealing that Henrik Pedersen had agreed to stay on, giving Wednesday fans another bit of good news in what has been a very difficult period for the club.<\/p>\n

\u201cRio Shipston has put pen to paper on a new contract at Wednesday,\u201d they said in a statement. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe young midfielder has been with the Owls since the age of seven, signing his first professional contract in December 2022. The 20-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan with Cork City, playing 20 games in the League of Ireland.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shipston said: \u201cI am delighted to extend, it\u2019s what I\u2019ve been working towards when going out on loan. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a good experience, I felt like I needed to do it for my career, and now I\u2019m glad to be back. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe people at Cork, I loved every single one of them, they made it easy for me to go over there. <\/p>\n
