Leeds United are keen on signing Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United and Leeds United News has the latest exclusive information on the deal following Gabriel Gudmundsson\u2019s arrival.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The words Sean Longstaff<\/a> and Leeds United<\/a> are not the first time they have been uttered in the same sentence. In March 2024 even,\u00a0Leeds were linked with a move for Longstaff<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Whites were considering a move for the Newcastle man last summer, if promoted. Of course, Leeds lost the play-off final to Southampton and that ended their chances at that time.<\/p>\n

Gudmundsson\u2019s Leeds switch and all the details<\/a> of a fourth summer signing were confirmed yesterday, but a deal for Longstaff is now edging closer to completion in the summer of 2025, per Leeds United News<\/strong> sources.<\/p>\n

With Daniel Farke<\/a> eyeing additions to his engine room ahead of 2025\/26 and with Premier League<\/a> football returning to Elland Road, we have the latest.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0\u00a310 million Longstaff price tag was previously mooted<\/a>\u00a0and, should Leeds sign him, they will be getting a player\u00a0Sandro Tonali believes is very underrated.<\/a><\/p>\n

David Ornstein claims Leeds have bid \u00a312 million for Longstaff<\/a>, and other sources state Leeds are now closing in on Longstaff<\/a> with Eddie Howe opening the door for a Longstaff departure<\/a> already.<\/p>\n

Longstaff has even been compared to Declan Rice<\/a> previously, and the move looks entirely sensible from a Leeds perspective. We asked our transfer expert Graeme Bailey for the latest on the move for what would be Leeds\u2019 fifth summer addition.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Leeds United News<\/strong>, Bailey said: \u201cThey\u2019ve been after Longstaff for a while and been in for him all summer, I\u2019m told. <\/p>\n

\u201cBut, obviously, in the last week or so, Leeds have become aware that Longstaff is available. He wasn\u2019t going to kick up a fuss about getting the move. <\/p>\n

Everton were looking, but I think they might have moved on to other targets. He\u2019s a good Premier League player, he\u2019s strong, and he can get about. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think he adds that physicality that I think Leeds were looking for. I\u2019m told that is progressing. That one could be done very quickly. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019ll be done well before the weekend. Newcastle want a deal worth closer to \u00a315 million, but that could be including many different things. It\u2019s going to be in that ballpark in the end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Something that could sweeten the deal somewhat on the player side is that Longstaff\u2019s Newcastle shirt number is available at Leeds<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since speaking to Bailey, Leeds United News<\/strong> sources have since confirmed that a move is nearing a conclusion and it has progressed even further.<\/p>\n

One source claimed that a deal is \u201cas good as done\u201d and official confirmation could follow after a medical at Thorp Arch in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Newcastle fans are wishing Longstaff well<\/a> ahead of a move to West Yorkshire. However, he is far from the final face that will arrive this summer as the fifth addition.<\/p>\n

Longstaff is one of seven signings Leeds will make<\/a> in the final two months of the summer transfer window, with Leeds not taking any chances next season in getting the squad into shape.<\/p>\n

Of course, it could be more than the final six which takes it to 11 in total, but that will be contingent on other exits.<\/p>\n

Leeds want a goalkeeper, full-back cover, another deep midfielder, a winger, an attacking midfielder, and a starting striker of real quality.<\/p>\n
