Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s latest announcement has led to a lot of mixed messages from supporters.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With Sheffield Wednesday still currently under a transfer embargo<\/a>, the focus right now has been on players leaving.<\/p>\n

Owner Dejphon Chansiri was planning a \u2018fire sale\u2019<\/a>\u00a0to raise funds to help the club\u2019s financial situation and exits are starting to happen.<\/p>\n

Djeidi Gassama is close to joining Rangers<\/a>, with personal terms now understood to have been agreed.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Sheffield Wednesday are in negotiations with Southampton<\/a>\u00a0for compensation over Sutura Kakay.<\/p>\n

Manchester City want to sign Romario Collins<\/a>\u00a0as well, with that deal thought to be close.<\/p>\n

But while exits are the focus, a player will now be staying at Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> beyond this summer.<\/p>\n

The club confirmed recently that striker George Brown has extended his contract with them.<\/p>\n

Fans have now been reacting to the news on social media, with a lot of different messages sent.<\/p>\n

One fan wrote: \u201cWell Done lad. #Chansiriout\u201d.<\/p>\n

Another replied: \u201cI\u2019m liking the sound of young ones but please announce we\u2019re selling and Powell is staying.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, several fans believe the young players will now be featuring for the first team in 2025\/26.<\/p>\n

A third stated: \u201cHe\u2019s going to be playing all season bro.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cFirst team football beckons,\u201d another Sheffield Wednesday fan predicted.<\/p>\n

There were also plenty of calls to \u201csell the club\u201d, with a fifth fan demanding: \u201cCongratulations George. In other news, get Chansiri out of our club!!\u201d<\/p>\n

While another somberly tweeted: \u201cAbout the best we can hope for. Players that are nowhere near ready being thrown into the first team next season thanks to that clown Chansiri.\u201d<\/p>\n

George Brown on staying at Sheffield Wednesday<\/p>\n

Brown made 27 appearances for the Yorkshire outfit during 2024\/25.<\/p>\n

He excelled in the Professional Development League and has now commented on his new deal with the club.<\/p>\n

Brown said: \u201cI\u2019m very pleased.\u00a0 Obviously being here last year, I got to know the club and the lads here and staying is definitely something I wanted to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI played a lot of minutes last season and wanted to earn a new contract. I just wanted to focus on playing as much as possible and help the team. <\/p>\n

\u201cTurning professional was very different and a shock at first, although a good shock! Everything goes up a level, the intensity and the way you play. <\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s ambition is to get in the first team and train with them as much as possible. I want to play at the highest level I can. <\/p>\n

\u201cI made amazing friends with some of the lads and coaches, it feels like a place I can call home. <\/p>\n

\u201cSeeing lads who made the step up, it shows you can do it if you want to work hard, and that\u2019s something I\u2019m striving towards.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
