Leeds United confirmed on Tuesday that the club have finally submitted plans to increase the Elland Road capacity to Leeds City Council, which would see Elland Road house 53,000 fans.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ever since The 49ers<\/a> took control of Leeds<\/a> from Andrea Radrizzani<\/a> after the club\u2019s relegation in 2023, Paraag Marathe<\/a> has been keen to increase the capacity of Elland Road<\/a> given the desire for tickets.<\/p>\n

A one-club city, Leeds are always sold out even in the Championship<\/a> and with the Premier League<\/a> back at Elland Road, the difficulty of obtaining tickets or season tickets becomes even harder than before.<\/p>\n

Plans first emerged earlier this year after Leeds took full control of Elland Road again, with images and even a video concept of what Elland Road will look like should plans get the go-ahead by the council.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Now, Leeds find out date of the council\u2019s Elland Road decision<\/p>\n

Leeds have now confirmed on their site<\/a> that the club have submitted plans to increase the club\u2019s capacity from just below 38,000 to a whopping 53,000. Interestingly, 112 seats more than Everton\u2019s new stadium.<\/p>\n

It would see Leeds boast the eighth biggest footballing stadium in England, and seventh in the Premier League with Wembley the largest at 90,000. Leeds have carried out public consultations ahead of plans.<\/p>\n

Indeed, 98% of respondents support the enhancement of Elland Road. 97% support an increase in the capacity and 99% support the economic benefits of it. The application process will now take 13 weeks.<\/p>\n

Beren Cross reports on The Athletic\u2019s website<\/a> that an official date will be October 7, 13 weeks after the club\u2019s plans were submitted. It is unclear how long the Elland Road plans will take from start to finish.<\/p>\n

The demand is enormous. The feel-good factor is back at Leeds, Premier League football has returned and the club are in good hands with Marathe and The 49ers Enterprises, who are backing the club.<\/p>\n

Leeds say 26,000 supporters are currently on the season ticket waiting list, a huge amount. It means an increase in capacity from just below 38,000 fans to 53,000 fans should mean Leeds will still be sold out.<\/p>\n

Exciting news for Leeds fans then, with the council\u2019s decision set to come seven games into the Premier League season, three days after Leeds host Spurs.
