She added that China \u201cfulfills its responsibility as a major country and contributes to the safety of international shipping lanes,\u201d calling for both sides to \u201cstrengthen communication in a facts-based and timely way to avoid misunderstanding and miscalculation,\u201d <a href=\"http:\/\/caliber.az\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Caliber.Az<\/strong><\/a> reports, citing <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219);\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2025-07-09\/china-calls-german-claim-of-laser-targeting-plane-inconsistent\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>foreign media<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Berlin claims a German reconnaissance aircraft participating in an EU-led security operation was targeted with a laser by a Chinese warship in early July. The aircraft was part of Operation ASPIDES, an EU mission to safeguard commercial shipping in the Red Sea from attacks by the Houthi militia.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The reported incident coincided with a diplomatic visit by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi to Brussels, Germany, and France. It also comes amid broader tensions between China and the European Union, including Beijing\u2019s decision to cancel part of an upcoming summit with EU leaders.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">In response to the alleged laser incident, both Germany and the European Union summoned China\u2019s ambassador.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cI am more than irritated by this incident. Such disruption of our aircraft, as well as any other unprovoked endangerment of our units, is unacceptable, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated, demanding crification.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The EU also issued a formal complaint.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cThe Chinese military&#8217;s use of a laser to target a German aircraft patrolling with EU Operation ASPIDES in the Red Sea is dangerous and unacceptable,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/eu-summons-chinese-ambassador-over-laser-incident-involving-german-aircraft-2025-07-09\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>said <\/strong><\/a>Anouar El Anouni, spokesperson for the EU&#8217;s Foreign and Security Policy. \u201cThis act put personnel at risk and compromised the aircraft&#8217;s mission.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">German authorities say there have been multiple encounters with the same Chinese warship in the region.
