Three year old greyhound Nikita, a retired racing dog, is currently under the care of Dog’s Trust where staff affectionately call her Nik Nak.<\/p>\n
However, her size and appearance have deterred potential owners from adopting her, as reported by What’s The Jam.<\/p>\n
Described as “a sweet three-year-old” who is “very friendly and loves making new friends – human and canine”, Nikita has won the hearts of her carers who think she’s “absolutely wonderful”.<\/p>\n
A spokesperson for Dog’s Trust Glasgow revealed: “She has met seven different potential families and each one has cancelled their reservation.<\/p>\n
“Some have said she’s too big or too bony.<\/p>\n
“Everything happens for a reason – maybe she’s been waiting for you?”.<\/p>\n
“She is a confident soul who loves to check everything out, but due to her racing history, she will require a lead and muzzle while in public.<\/p>\n
“Nikita is a little flirt when she meets someone new.”<\/p>\n
They added: “She would be able to share her home with a similar sized dog, pending successful mixes at the centre.<\/p>\n
“She’d be able to be left home alone for a couple of hours but we’d recommend building this up gradually.<\/p>\n
“She is looking for an understanding family that can help her with the basics.<\/p>\n
“Nikita would love to have a garden, but this isn’t essential, as long as she gets her daily exercise.<\/p>\n
“Having occasional access to a secure field every once in a while would be beneficial too if she doesn’t have a garden to zoom in.”<\/p>\n
The retired racing hound is currently acing domestic life with a foster family, showing she’s completely house-trained.<\/p>\n
