Danny Rohl is ready to return to Sheffield Wednesday, talkSPORT understands.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rohl had been expected to leave after staying away from the start of pre-season training<\/a> but believes the Owls’ future is brighter amid the prospect of an imminent takeover.<\/p>\n

His assistant Henrik Pedersen has been overseeing the first-team’s preparations for the new season.<\/p>\n

The Owls squad is currently being put through their paces at St. George’s Park.<\/p>\n

It comes after Pedersen extended his contract at Hillsborough earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Rohl is also now set to remain at the club ahead of the upcoming campaign.<\/p>\n

Wednesday begin the new Championship season away to Leicester on August 10.<\/p>\n

The Foxes had been one of the club’s linked with appointing Rohl as their new boss following Ruud van Nistelrooy’s exit.<\/p>\n

However, former Queens Park Rangers manager Marti Cifuentes is instead set to take charge<\/a> at the King Power Stadium.<\/p>\n

As for Wednesday, they were hit with a third transfer embargo<\/a> by the EFL last week for non-payment of transfer fees.<\/p>\n

It follows previous sanctions for failing to pay their players on time and late HMRC payments.<\/p>\n

The club were banned from paying fees for new players<\/a> for three transfer windows on June 18.<\/p>\n

As a result of their unpaid wages, a mass exodus of players could soon follow.<\/p>\n

Those not paid in full are free to hand in a 15-day notice of their contract termination as the club’s woes continue.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, seven players have already left the club following the expiry of their contracts at the end of June.<\/p>\n

The transfer embargoes are set to impact on Rohl’s business in the window this summer.<\/p>\n

His U-turn will see the German head into a second full season at the helm.<\/p>\n

Rohl was appointed by Wednesday in October 2023 before guiding the club to Championship survival.<\/p>\n

He has since penned a new deal through to the summer of 2027 as well as securing a 12th place finish last term.<\/p>\n
