Fire crews have battled a fire at a Lidl store in Bristol city centre<\/a> this afternoon, Wednesday, July 9.<\/p>\n A fire is believed to have broken out on the first floor of the supermarket in the city.<\/p>\n As fire crews were at the scene on Union Street, the road was closed and fire fighters worked to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n Pictures taken at the scene show multiple fire crews outside the store, with a section of the street cordoned off.<\/p>\n Thick smoke plumed from the building, as fire fighters used fans to disperse the smoke.<\/p>\n Follow our live blog here for the latest updates.<\/a><\/p>\n The cause of the fire is not known at this stage, the fire service has confirmed that no-one has suffered any injuries.<\/p>\n Avon and Somerset Police were also called to the scene.<\/p>\n A witness has said that Union Street has since reopened, but the road by Holland and Barrett remains closed.<\/p>\n A spokesperson for Avon Fire and Rescue<\/a> Service said: “Crews from Temple, Bedminster<\/a>, Southmead<\/a>, Hicks Gate and Kingswood<\/a> were called at 12:04 to reports of a fire in a retail premises on Union Street in Bristol City Centre.<\/p>\n “On arrival, firefighters found a fire on the first floor of the building and used three high pressure hose reels, two 45mm safety jets and two 45mm covering jets to extinguish the blaze.<\/p>\n “Multiple fans were used to clear the smoke and thermal imaging cameras to check for any remaining hotspots.
