Or bringing your family and friends on a tour of the city? Luckily, Sheffield offers a special summer for everybody.

With a range of top tier food spots for matcha lovers and food connoisseurs alike, as well as great local music festivals for those wanting to have another Brat summer. And for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, a scenic walk around the Peaks to cater for your hot girl walks.

Tasty eats

With the days getting hotter and the walk up and down Ecclesall Road not getting any shorter, I’ve kickstarted the summer by dipping in and out of some of Sheffield’s most rated restaurants- as well as some new hidden gems!

For those who enjoy authentic Thai street food- Zaap, located on Ecclesall Road is the place to be. With a range of spice levels, this restaurant has something for everybody. For the fire-breathers, I’d recommend the Tom Yum soup (in this weather though, I’d avoid it), and for those inclined to order “mild” at Nando’s, the Gang Panaeng is the perfect dish. For those who can stretch the budget slightly, they also offer a wild range of cocktails – from the Salted Caramel Espresso Martini to my personal favourite “Phuket On the Beach”, a must-have pre-pre drink. With its true authenticity, Zaap brings the buzz of Bangkok to Sheffield, it’s fast, fun and full of personality.

If you want to grab a pick-me-up, whether it be in a rush to work or a simple hangover cure, Circo’s Turkish grill is the ultimate place to go. The falafel wraps are second to none, full of fresh veggies and authentic Turkish sauces. It really is the place to go, with a quaint seating area for you and your friends to enjoy the sun without feeling too claustrophobic. This hidden gem is also sure to not break the bank, with the average kebab or wrap costing no more than five pounds. The grill offers a range of Turkish drinks, which are known to have health benefits – such as ayran and salgam, so really visiting this place is equivalent to a trip to the gym… just with added benefits.

An alternative for those who may be craving a quaint place for brunch is the Birdhouse cafe, a hidden gem located on Sidney Street. Located a 15 minute walk from the top of Ecclesall Road, the little team room is perfect for essay catch‑ups, brunch dates with friends or even a solo meal. Their drinks menu is diverse, offering everything from velvety chai lattes and matcha, to classic herbal teas. On the food front, you’ve got fan‑favourites like their smashed avocado toast (topped with feta and chilli flakes), fresh homemade cakes and scones, and, for the savoury fans, a good quiche that hits the spot every time. To compliment your visit, the Birdhouse also offers a 10 percent student discount, so be sure to have UNiDAYS open when you go to pay!

Did someone say free festival?

Tramlines might be sold out, but that doesn’t mean your summer boogie dreams are over. You can still soak up the same good vibes – but for free. Yes, you heard that right; The Fringe (hosted by Tramlines) runs from July 24th to July 26th with a diverse lineup of local and regional artists across various venues in Sheffield. The events are held at notable student hotspots such as The Washington and the Hallamshire, with artists performing from 2.30pm in the day until 4am the next morning. So, no matter what your sleep schedule looks like – there will be someone performing at all hours! And better yet, its free.

For more information on the schedules of artists and locations, click here.

Escaping to the countryside

If the hills of Sheffield aren’t cutting it for you anymore and you need to escape the hustle and bustle of the city- then the Peak District is the place to be. Whether you and your friends are looking for the perfect picnic spot, or an accessible walk with your family and fur companions – Chatsworth is the place to be this summer (especially for those Pride And Prejudice lovers out there).

With plenty to explore at Chatsworth, it makes for a very cheap day out. You can start your journey by boarding the X17 bus towards Matlock, before then hopping on the 170 bus towards Bakewell – which takes you straight to Chatsworth house. From there, you can choose to go into the gardens (for a small fortune of thirty two pounds, however worth every penny). Or for those up for a challenge, take a stroll up to the hunting tower over the tops, which leaves you with a perfect view of the grounds and a great spot for a picnic as well as some challenging terrain. If you want to bring a souvenir home for the family, the grounds host several aesthetically pleasing gift shops along with a local pub close by to finish your day.

South Yorkshire in bloom

This event is one for the aesthetic Instagram feed fanatics and the Pinterest baddies. If you suffer from hayfever, antihistamine is going to be your best friend when visiting the RHS Flower Show – which is coming to Wentworth Woodhouse, close to Rotherham.

From July 16th to July 20th, Rotherham is going to look like a scene straight out of Bridgerton, with over 34,000 cultivated plants set to be present over the days. This event really is enjoyable and particularly wholesome to visit with friends. There really is a plant for everyone, so if you’re looking for a new house pet (inevitably going to be a cactus), then you can! And in doing so you’ll be supporting local florists as well as saving the environment one flower at a time. Additionally, for those who enjoy a bite to eat when exploring the exhibit, there will be a number of food and drink vendors dotted across the site, including Sauls of Spratton who are responsible for some of the greatest coffee of all time. To get there, take the train to Meadowhall where you will then be greeted by a free shuttle bus that takes you straight to the hall in true luxury.

From burgers to hills, here are some activities for students on a budget Are you making the most…

[8817
748,393,4884,1620,16,15
0":"post-251435","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-sheffield","8":"tag-britain","9":"tag-england","10":"tag-great-britain","11":"tag-sheffield","12":"tag-uk","13":"tag-united-kingdom
["GET
