The gloves may be coming off at the Palace.<\/p>\n

Prince William<\/strong> and Princess Kate<\/strong> are said to be consulting legal advisors after a controversial Broadway play portraying their son, 11-year-old Prince George<\/strong>, as an older gay male sparked global outrage and condemnation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis isn\u2019t freedom of expression \u2014 it\u2019s the exploitation of a minor for shock value,\u201d a senior royal insider told The National Enquirer. \u201cHe\u2019s a child. Leave him alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

The play \u2014 shockingly titled Prince F*t and written by Canadian playwright Jordan Tannahill<\/strong> \u2014 fast-forwards to 2032 and imagines a grown-up George (renamed \u201cTips\u201d) bringing his boyfriend home to meet his royal parents.<\/p>\n

But for the royal family \u2014 and a growing chorus of supporters \u2014 the use of George\u2019s real identity and the slur in the title is beyond the pale.<\/p>\n

\u201c[King Charles III<\/strong>] has been briefed. William and Catherine are extremely distressed,\u201d one source close to the family confirmed. \u201cThey are absolutely looking at their legal options. Enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n

Per the insider, palace aides are said to be exploring defamation and child protection laws across multiple jurisdictions, including the U.K. and U.S., where the production is being staged<\/a> in New York City.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are clear lines when it comes to children \u2014 especially public figures who never asked for fame,\u201d the insider says. \u201cThis crosses every one of them.\u201d<\/p>\n

Legal action may take time \u2014 but one thing is certain: the Palace is no longer staying silent. They\u2019re not the only ones: Many took to Reddit to express their outrage after learning about the play.<\/p>\n

\u201cInteresting concept, really grossed out that the playwright decided to use the basis of the main character on a real person, and one who is a minor no less,\u201d One person wrote on Reddit. \u201cFeels wrong and is giving me the ick.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, this is\u2026 not something I feel okay about,\u201d another wrote. \u201cHe\u2019s eleven.\u201d<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Prince George\u2019s likeness has been used in pop culture. In 2021, HBO Max premiered The Prince, an animated comedy series following the 8-year-old, who was depicted as conniving and bratty.<\/p>\n

The young royal was voiced by series creator Gary Janette<\/strong>, while Orlando Bloom<\/strong> voiced Prince Harry<\/strong> and Sophie Turner<\/strong> voiced Princess Charlotte<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

According to Janetti, Prince George\u2019s uncle, Prince Harry, was unfazed by the show. \u201cI know before the show premiered, he was aware that Orlando was doing it \u2026 and he seemed to have a sense of humor about it,\u201d Janetti revealed on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen in August 2021.<\/p>\n
