For John Nelson, the president of the clay target leagues, this sport is about including all people from all walks of life.<\/p>\n
“What’s wonderful about clay target shooting sports you don’t have to be the fastest or the tallest or the strongest as far as an athlete is concerned,” Nelson said.<\/p>\n
Nelson also loves the sport because it gives kids an opportunity to experience what it’s like to participate in school activities.<\/p>\n
“It provides an opportunity for kids that don’t necessarily participate in school-sponsored sports. More than a third of these student athletes, this is their only school sponsored sport, so it’s a great activity for those nontraditional jocks,” Nelson said.<\/p>\n
