{"id":252232,"date":"2025-07-10T01:36:09","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T01:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/252232\/"},"modified":"2025-07-10T01:36:09","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T01:36:09","slug":"all-blacks-maa-nonu-on-steroids-debuts-ardie-savea-captain-v-france-planet-rugby","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/252232\/","title":{"rendered":"All Blacks: &#8216;Ma\u2019a Nonu on steroids\u2019 debuts, Ardie Savea captain v France : Planet Rugby"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>Scott Robertson has made two enforced changes to his starting All Blacks XV to tackle France in the second Test match at Sky Stadium in Wellington.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Captain Scott Barrett has been ruled out for the remainder of the series against the French which means that Ardie Savea will skipper the team in the second Test match with Jordie Barrett named as vice-captain.<\/p>\n<p>Enforced changes<\/p>\n<p>Lock Barrett has been replaced in the starting XV by Blues lock Patrick Tuipulotu, who will earn his 52nd Test cap for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/team\/new-zealand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All Blacks<\/a>, while there is a further change in the backs after Sevu Reece sustained a concussion in the early knockings of Test 1.<\/p>\n<p>Caleb Clarke comes into the starting lineup, which means that Rieko Ioane shifts from the left wing to the right to accommodate the Blues winger in an otherwise unchanged backline.<\/p>\n<p>Will Jordan completes the back-three along with Clarke and Ioane, while Jordie Barrett and Billy Proctor are named in the centres. Beauden Barrett and Cam Roigard combine in the halfbacks once again.<\/p>\n<p>Into the back and captain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/ardie-savea\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Savea<\/a> is accompanied by number eight Christian Lio-Willie, who earns his second cap, and blindside flanker Tupou Vaa\u2019i.<\/p>\n<p>Netherlands-born Fabien Holland also earns a second start in the locks alongside Tuipulotu, while the front row is unchanged with Codie Taylor earning his 98th Test cap and is flanked by loosehead Ethan de Groot and tighthead Fletcher Newell.<\/p>\n<p>On the bench, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/tag\/scott-robertson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Robertson<\/a> has opted for the starting 5-3 split with Samisoni Taukei\u2019aho, Ollie Norris, Pasilio Tosi, Samipeni Finau, and Du\u2019Plessis Kirifi retaining their roles from Test one in the back.<\/p>\n<p class=\"py-4 text-title text-xl sm:text-2xl font-normal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.planetrugby.com\/news\/all-blacks-on-referee-watchlist-as-renowned-journo-makes-wild-claim-that-new-zealand-are-victims-of-hardline-policy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>All Blacks on referee \u2018watchlist\u2019 as renowned journo makes wild claim that New Zealand are \u2018victims of hardline policy\u2019<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, there is a change in the backline replacements with the addition of debutant Timoci Tavatavanawai, who has been dubbed \u2018Ma\u2019a Nonu on steroids\u2019, replacing Quinn Tupaea. Cortez Ratima and Damian McKenzie complete the matchday 23.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTest series are a unique and exciting opportunity.
