Police are probing the unexplained death in the capital.\"SeanSean Stephens was found unresponsive in Edinburgh’s City Chambers<\/p>\n

A man found dead inside Edinburgh City Chambers<\/a> has been named locally as Sean Stephens.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the building’s customer support hub on the High Street at 9am on Monday, July 7.<\/p>\n

The 38-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Police Scotland<\/a> say the death is currently being treated as \u201cunexplained\u201d but not believed to be suspicious.<\/p>\n

Sean had been reported missing from the Southside area of Edinburgh<\/a> on July 1.<\/p>\n

His death has left family and friends heartbroken.<\/p>\n

Paying tribute to her husband, his wife Julie said: “Rest in peace Sean, I will forever love you.”<\/p>\n

Step-daughter Angel McMillan wrote: “Never get a step dad like you in a lifetime. Fly high big man.”<\/p>\n

Friend Alfie Muirhead added: “You will always be remembered, Sean, and your love will never be forgotten. RIP buddy.”<\/p>\n

Close friend Adele Ford, who described Sean as “the most loving gentle giant you\u2019d ever meet” has launched a fundraiser to help support his grieving wife and family.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “At 9.20pm on Tuesday, 1 July, 2025 we received a report of concern for a 38-year-old man in the Edinburgh area who failed to make an pre-arranged appointment.<\/p>\n

“Enquiries were carried out to trace him.<\/p>\n

“At around 9.10am on Monday, 7 July, we received a report of an unresponsive person at a premises on High Street, Edinburgh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEmergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene<\/a>.<\/p>\n
