\u201cThis book is the monster that lives inside your closet,\u201d fellow author Grady Hendrix raved about Bird Box writer Josh Malerman\u2019s<\/strong> horror novel Incidents Around the House<\/strong>, and Deadline reports<\/a> that director Rob Savage<\/strong> (Host, Dashcam) is adapting the tale for the screen.<\/p>\n

Rob Savage will direct the Incidents Around the House movie for producer James Wan\u2019s<\/strong> company Atomic Monster, with Jessica Chastain<\/strong> (IT: Chapter 2) set to lead the movie\u2019s cast.<\/p>\n

Nathan Elston<\/strong> (\u201cSuccession\u201d) is writing the adaptation of Malerman\u2019s novel, which has been described as a \u201cchilling, unique tale of true horror about a family as haunted as their home.\u201d<\/p>\n

On that note, here\u2019s the full synopsis for the novel\u2026<\/p>\n

To eight-year-old Bela, her family is her world. There\u2019s Mommy, Daddo, and Grandma Ruth. But there is also Other Mommy, a malevolent entity who asks her every day: \u201cCan I go inside your heart?\u201d<\/p>\n

When horrifying incidents around the house signal that Other Mommy is growing tired of asking Bela the question over and over, Bela understands that unless she says yes, her family will soon pay.<\/p>\n

Other Mommy is getting restless, stronger, bolder. Only the bonds of family can keep Bela safe, but other incidents show cracks in her parents\u2019 marriage. The safety Bela relies on is about to unravel. But Other Mommy needs an answer..<\/p>\n

Atomic Monster and Blumhouse are producing the film for Universal Pictures.<\/p>\n

Incidents Around the House was published by Del Rey last summer.<\/p>\n
