Josh Windass is among the players who could leave Sheffield Wednesday during the summer transfer window.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Amid Sheffield Wednesday\u2019s transfer embargo<\/a>, a number of current names have already departed and more are expected to follow in the coming months.<\/p>\n

Djeidi Gassama is close to joining Rangers<\/a> on a permanent basis, having agreed personal terms with the Scottish giants.<\/p>\n

Manchester City are nearing a deal for Romario Collins<\/a>, with fellow youngster Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri set to join the Sky Blues as well.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it was reported last week that Josh Windass wants to leave Sheffield Wednesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Windass saw a one-year extension in his contract triggered at the end of 2024\/25, but he is still said to be eyeing an exit.<\/p>\n

Amid reports that the 31-year-old, who scored 13 Championship goals last season, wants to depart, some Sheffield Wednesday<\/a> fans have been trying to pick out the positives of losing one of their top players.<\/p>\n

On that front, the experienced midfielder departing could open the door for Charlie McNeil to get more minutes.<\/p>\n

One fan wrote: \u201cOne beneficiary of Windass not being here could be Charlie McNeil. He can play in the 8 or 10 role and has pretty good stats. He would be unlikely to play in front of Josh, but he might get the chance to finally show what he has next season if there is a vacancy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlie McNeil Sheffield Wednesday stats<\/p>\n

McNeil joined Sheffield Wednesday on a free transfer from Manchester United in 2024.<\/p>\n

After much excitement around his signing, however, the 21-year-old only made seven appearances for the Owls across 2024\/25.<\/p>\n

McNeil featured on four occasions in the Championship for a total of just 55 minutes.<\/p>\n

He played three times in the Carabao Cup, scoring a brace in his first match against Hull City on August 14.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
