{"id":252651,"date":"2025-07-10T05:21:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T05:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/252651\/"},"modified":"2025-07-10T05:21:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T05:21:11","slug":"omar-berrada-responds-to-manchesters-ambitious-10-year-plan-old-trafford-regeneration-is-at-the-heart-of-it","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/252651\/","title":{"rendered":"Omar Berrada responds to Manchester&#8217;s ambitious 10-year plan, Old Trafford Regeneration is &#8216;at the heart&#8217; of it"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Manchester United have an important role to play in the Greater Manchester Strategy, which outlines Andy Burnham\u2019s priorities for the next decade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In March, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Manchester United<\/a> announced plans to build a new stadium, without revealing what would happen to the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/old-trafford\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Old Trafford<\/a> ground.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is led by co-owner <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/tag\/sir-jim-ratcliffe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sir Jim Ratcliffe<\/a> as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/man-utd-share-first-look-at-eye-opening-concept-design-for-old-trafford-replacement-stadium-sir-alex-ferguson-reacts\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ineos announced their intention to build a new 100,000-seater stadium<\/a> as the centre piece of the regeneration of the Old Trafford area.<\/p>\n<p>It is estimated that the stadium and wider regeneration project have the potential to deliver an additional \u00a37.3 billion per year to the UK economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/club\/manchester-united-fans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">United fans<\/a> can expect a state-of-the-art stadium, but former midfielder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unitedinfocus.com\/news\/paul-ince-says-man-utd-must-avoid-west-ham-mistake-its-a-warning-to-sir-jim-ratcliffes-biggest-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paul Ince has raised concerns<\/a> about whether it will be possible to transfer the Old Trafford atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p>The architecture group appointed to design the stadium is Foster + Partners.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/GettyImages-2166304570-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Manchester United CEO Omar Berrada arriving at Old Trafford.\" class=\"wp-image-215874\" \/>Photo by Ash Donelon\/Manchester United via Getty ImagesOmar Berrada reacts to Manchester\u2019s 10-year plan<\/p>\n<p>United are firmly behind the 10-year growth plan for the region.<\/p>\n<p>The 10-year plan, which promises a new era of economic growth for the city, is a vision set by Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham.<\/p>\n<p>It details how Manchester has plans to become a second city to rival any other on the planet by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>United\u2019s new stadium will play a big role in that.<\/p>\n<p>Reacting to the announcement, Omar Berrada, chief executive of Manchester United, said via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.manutd.com\/en\/news\/detail\/man-utd-welcomes-greater-manchester-10-year-growth-plan?utm_source=web_notification\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">ManUtd.com<\/a>: \u201cThis is an exciting decade for the region, and we warmly welcome the inclusion of the Old Trafford Regeneration project at the heart of the Greater Manchester Strategy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are also delighted by the appointment of Lord Coe as Chair-Designate of the Mayoral Development Corporation; the continuity it brings for the wider project will be a huge positive. In addition, Lord Coe\u2019s proven leadership and track record in delivering transformational projects will be invaluable as we work together to turn our collective vision into reality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn March, we announced our ambition for a new stadium and since then we have been progressing those plans.
