A Renfrewshire resident has told how his living room \u201clit up blue\u201d after armed police stormed a Paisley<\/a> flat amidst a \u2018disturbance\u2019.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to a property in George Street around 7.45pm on Tuesday, July 8, after the alarm was raised.<\/p>\n

Police<\/a> say that due to the nature of the incident, armed officers were called in for support.<\/p>\n

A George Street resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, told the Paisley Daily Express<\/a> how he was first alerted to the \u201cdisturbance\u201d when his living room \u201clit up blue\u201d and he could hear shouting from outside.<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cWe were just sitting watching the tele when all we could see was the living room light up blue from the amount of police car lights outside.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a hell of amount of cars rushing down here. I\u2019ve never seen so many police cars, there must have been about 15 to 20.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey blocked off the street and next thing we heard was all the shouting and commotion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fire brigade arrived and the ambulance crew shortly after, that\u2019s when we started to panic and realise something serious was happening.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe could hear a screaming coming from upstairs and police shouting \u2018police\u2019 and then a short while later we heard them shout \u2018armed police\u2019, that was terrifying.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not everyday you see the armed police. The officers were dressed all in black with their guns, it really was something quite scary.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the incident, a 23-year-old male was arrested shortly after 11pm, and taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital<\/a> for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.<\/p>\n

Our source said emergency services worked together with the man.<\/p>\n

The resident alleged: \u201cThe guy was shouting and screaming all sorts. There was a standoff and it looked like a case of who was going to blink first.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe officers were great, so patient and professional, they walked him out the building and into a van.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve stayed here over twenty years and never quite seen anything like it. We\u2019ve had our fair share of drama down here but that was something else.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were so relieved when it was all over, we couldn\u2019t have gone to bed while it continued.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officers say enquiries into the incident are continuing.<\/p>\n

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 7.45pm on Tuesday, July 8, police received a report of a disturbance within a flat on George Street, Paisley.<\/p>\n

\u201cDue to the nature of the incident, local officers were supported by armed response officers.<\/p>\n

\u201cAbout 11.20pm, a 23-year-old male was arrested and taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, for treatment.<\/p>\n

Enquiries are continuing.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: \u201cWe were alerted at 8.26pm on Tuesday, July 8, to attend an incident on George Street in Paisley.<\/p>\n

\u201cOperations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene, where crews supported emergency service partners.\u201d<\/p>\n
