And will a rogue suncream mean you\u2019re unpacking your suitcase in the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/23\/no-airport-queue-jumpers-airline-trails-new-boarding-pass-policy-21848649\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/10\/23\/no-airport-queue-jumpers-airline-trails-new-boarding-pass-policy-21848649\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">queue<\/a> \u2014 <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/08\/28\/a-simple-pair-knickers-saved-m-s-street-cred-2-21497754\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2024\/08\/28\/a-simple-pair-knickers-saved-m-s-street-cred-2-21497754\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">unmentionables<\/a> in full view of fellow <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/02\/millions-travellers-now-need-a-10-permit-enter-uk-rules-22835297\/#:~:text=Europeans%20are%20now%20required%20to,six%20months%20on%20one%20trip.\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/04\/02\/millions-travellers-now-need-a-10-permit-enter-uk-rules-22835297\/#:~:text=Europeans%20are%20now%20required%20to,six%20months%20on%20one%20trip.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">travellers<\/a>?<\/p>\n<p>Well now, passengers flying from <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/gatwick-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gatwick Airport<\/a> can relax, as new tech means you\u2019ll no longer have to put liquids into a separate plastic bag.<\/p>\n<p>You still need to keep any shampoo, suncream, makeup remover and the like to a maximum of 100ml, but they can stay firmly in your hand luggage as they pass through the scanners. <\/p>\n<p>The change is thanks to the installation of new computed tomography (CT) 3D scanning machines, described as \u2018cutting-edge technology\u2019 for airport security staff.<\/p>\n<p>As part of a <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/british-government\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">government<\/a> initiative, all 19 of <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" data-track=\"inline-tag-auto-link_article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/tag\/gatwick-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gatwick<\/a>\u2019s security lanes have been installed with the new equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Not only should this cut queue time, but removing plastic bags is also a sustainable move too.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t<img width=\"646\" height=\"431\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/GettyImages-1417612779-455c.jpg\" class=\"article-image wp-image-22835453\" alt=\"Airport security\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/><br \/>\n\t\tYou\u2019ll no longer have to take electronics out of your bag when passing through security. (Picture: Getty Images)<\/p>\n<p>The new tech comes as part of a multi-million-pound project the airport hopes will transform its security screening process and mean smoother operations in the run-up to the <a data-ico=\"hyperlink-article\" href=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/28\/8-exciting-new-flight-routes-uk-broaden-horizons-2025-22603912\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/metro.co.uk\/2025\/02\/28\/8-exciting-new-flight-routes-uk-broaden-horizons-2025-22603912\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">busy summer season<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Cyrus Dana, head of security at London Gatwick, said, \u2018More than 95% of passengers already pass through security at London Gatwick in under five minutes.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This is a positive change, with the scanners allowing our passengers to travel through the airport with more ease.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018As we continue to grow, our top priority is the safety of our passengers and the security of the airport.
