An Edinburgh street has been locked down<\/a> by cops after a man’s body was discovered.<\/p>\n Peffer Place in the Niddrie area of the city was taped off by officers at around 12:55pm this afternoon, Wednesday, July 9. A 48-year-old man was found dead, with police treating the death as ‘unexplained’<\/p>\n They have said there ‘do no appear’ to be any suspicious circumstances. Local reports indicate that his body was found inside a car.<\/p>\n Images from the scene show at least four police vehicles parked on the street, with several officers patroling the area.<\/a><\/p>\n A police sign at the end of the road has been set out that reads ‘road closed’. Local residents can be seen watching on as police appear to carry out enquiries, reports Edinburgh Live.<\/a><\/p>\n A Police Scotland spokesperson said: \u201cAround 12.55pm on Wednesday, 9 July, 2025, we were made aware of the death of a 48-year-old man in the Peffer Place area of Edinburgh.<\/p>\n \u201cEnquiries are ongoing and the death is being treated as unexplained, however there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”<\/p>\n One resident said: “Body been found in a car outside Omans pub, police cordoned off area.”<\/p>\n Another local added: “I looked out of my window and saw police<\/a> everywhere. I went outside and they’d put tape up either end of the street. It wasn’t immediately obvious what had happened but they’re clearly taking it seriously whatever it is.<\/p>\n
