Good Morning Britain star Rob Rinder has opened up about his new role away from the ITV show, as he teams up with Ruth Goodman for a new series<\/p>\n

Rob Rinder, known for his appearances on Good Morning Britain, has shared a surprising revelation from his latest venture away from the popular ITV<\/a> breakfast show.<\/p>\n

The 47 year old television personality is joining forces with Ruth Goodman for an intriguing new series, The Great Plague With Rob Rinder and Ruth Goodman, set to premiere tonight (July 10th) at 9pm on Channel 5.<\/p>\n

The pair will delve into hidden plague burials, peculiar remedies, and unexpected theories in this captivating exploration of some of history’s most significant events.<\/p>\n

They will also examine three transformative moments – the Plague, the Great Fire of London, and the Blitz – from the perspectives of both the affluent and the impoverished.<\/p>\n

Rinder gave viewers a sneak peek into his discoveries during filming, confessing: “What shocked me most, I think, was how utterly precarious life was and how astonishingly adaptable people were in response.”<\/p>\n

He went on to say: “Standing in front of a grand London house that somehow survived the Great Fire, knowing that entire streets vanished overnight, was deeply affecting.<\/p>\n

“And then there are the small human details that stay with you. Samuel Pepys, for instance, famously buried his finest Parmesan cheese and a good deal of his wine in the garden to protect them from the flames.”, reports the Manchester Evening News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The GMB presenter concluded: “There’s something so wonderfully human in that mixture of fear and practicality: the world is burning, but first – save the cheese.”<\/p>\n

Rob reflected: “It reminds you that even in catastrophe, people cling to the small comforts that give them a sense of control. And I never expected to feel so emotionally connected to people who lived 400 years ago. But I did. Deeply.”<\/p>\n

Regarding his motivations for taking on the new project, he shared: “I’ve always believed that history is at its most powerful when it’s intimate – when you stop seeing it as a list of dates and start seeing it as real people facing impossible choices.”<\/p>\n

Rob explained: “What drew me to this series was exactly that: this chance to look closely at individuals living through some of the most terrifying, cataclysmic moments in British history – but to do it with humanity.”<\/p>\n

He elaborated: “You see these grand paintings and townhouses, and you assume that wealth insulated people entirely.<\/p>\n

“But what happens when the world catches fire, literally? That question was thrilling to explore. And yes class is at the heart of it, but so is fate, courage, love, and sometimes the sheer absurdity of being human in a crisis.”<\/p>\n
