Bristol Rovers have rejected an improved bid of \u00a3450,000 from Peterborough for defender Connor Taylor, sources have told Football Insider.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Peterborough have made the centre-back one of their top targets in this summer\u2019s transfer window and their opening offer was rejected at the end of last season.<\/p>\n

Now, Rovers have turned down their updated offer as they battle to keep hold of the 23-year-old.<\/p>\n

Posh remain keen on Taylor, who was named Bristol Rovers\u2019 player of the season last term despite relegation from League One<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Peterborough ready new Taylor move to fix \u2018big problems\u2019 in defence<\/strong><\/p>\n

Despite avoiding relegation to League Two by five points last season, Peterborough<\/a> suffered major problems at the back.<\/p>\n

Darren Ferguson\u2019s side had the second-worst defensive record in the division, conceding a concerning 81 goals in 46 matches.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Taylor started 38 games for Bristol Rovers<\/a>, showcasing his reliability across a full campaign.<\/p>\n

The Englishman was one of the shining lights in a dismal Rovers side, which has caught the attention of Peterborough, who want to give him another chance to prove his worth in League One.<\/p>\n

Posh did have some success last season as they managed to defend their EFL Trophy title, beating Birmingham City<\/a> in the final.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Football Insider<\/strong> has exclusively revealed that West Brom are plotting a move for former Crystal Palace man Jeffrey Schlupp<\/a> on a free transfer.<\/p>\n

Schlupp, 32, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Celtic, is a free agent after leaving Crystal Palace<\/a> last month upon the expiration of his contract.<\/p>\n

West Brom are planning to rebuild their squad under new manager Ryan Mason, and he sees the former Eagles man\u2019s experience and versatility as a key addition to his squad at The Hawthorns.<\/p>\n

Schlupp made 18 appearances for Celtic last term, helping Brendan Rodgers\u2019 men retain their Scottish Premiership<\/a> title.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
