{"id":253519,"date":"2025-07-10T12:59:15","date_gmt":"2025-07-10T12:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/253519\/"},"modified":"2025-07-10T12:59:15","modified_gmt":"2025-07-10T12:59:15","slug":"exact-spot-scotland-will-hit-30c-as-record-breaking-temperatures-predicted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/253519\/","title":{"rendered":"Exact spot Scotland will hit 30C as record-breaking temperatures predicted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>High pressure from the Atlantic looks set to ensure its a scorching weekend for Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>12:33, 10 Jul 2025Updated 12:40, 10 Jul 2025<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/2_Met-Office-weather-map.png\" alt=\"A Met Office weather map for Saturday, July 12, showing high temperatures in Scotland\" loading=\"eager\"  \/>A hot blast from the Atlantic is set to break Scotland&#8217;s 2025 temperature record this weekend(Image: Met Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Scotland may have missed out on the warmest of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/weather\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"weatherLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">weather<\/a> so far this summer, with June being a bit of a damp squib at times north of the border.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">But that is set to change this weekend with the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/met-office\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Met OfficeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Met Office<\/a> predicting that millions of Scots could be basking in a heatwave over the coming days.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The national weather agency is forecasting highs of 30C in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/glasgow\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"GlasgowLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Glasgow<\/a> on Saturday afternoon, which would make it the hottest day of the year so far, with 28.9C in Drumnadrochit on the shores of <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/loch-ness\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Loch NessLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Loch Ness<\/a> on June 20 the current record.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The best of the weather will be in the west of the country, with the area around our biggest city seeing the mercury at its highest. And those planning a trip to the seaside are in luck, as popular spots like <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/largs\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"LargsLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Largs<\/a>, Helensburgh, and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/oban\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"ObanLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Oban<\/a> will also enjoy temperatures in the high 20s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Certain parts of the north Highlands, like Altnaharra, will be at similar levels, along with much of Dumfries and Galloway and the Borders.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/edinburgh\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"EdinburghLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Edinburgh<\/a> and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/dundee\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"DundeeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Dundee<\/a> will still bask in the low-to-mid 20s over the weekend, but Aberdonians appear unlikely to get weather that reaches beyond the high teens over the coming days.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/1_Met-Office-map.png\" alt=\"A Met Office weather map for Saturday, July 12, showing high temperatures in the west of Scotland\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>The best of the weather this weekend will be in the west(Image: Met Office)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The Met Office defines a heatwave as three consecutive days of temperatures above a heatwave threshold, which changes depending on the location and time of year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">For Scotland right now, that threshold sits at 25C. And with Glasgow expected to reach highs of 28C, 30C, and 26C on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively, that would more than meet the criteria.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">It certainly looks like it&#8217;s going to be a searing weekend for those attending <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/trnsmt\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"TRNSMTLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">TRNSMT<\/a> at Glasgow Green, with the city basking in the mid-20s at 7pm each evening of the festival.<\/p>\n<p>Content cannot be displayed without consent<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">As well as the scorching temperatures, the pollen count is expected to be very high in Glasgow and the surrounding area as a hot blast comes in from the west.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Speaking about the coming weather, Met Office chief meteorologist Jason Kelly said: \u201cHigh pressure from the Atlantic will lead to a build in temperatures over the coming days, with heatwave criteria reached by the weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Whilst temperatures are expected to build day on day, becoming widely hot, they are unlikely to surpass those recorded at the start of the month.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;This heatwave is expected to be longer lived and extend further north and west into a larger part of the UK than previously seen this summer.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/2_Sunny-day.jpg\" alt=\"Students Iris Mandragouda (left) and Costas Spanachis enjoy the sunshine in Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park as the hot weather continues. \" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Glasgow is forecast for a heatwave this weekend(Image: Jane Barlow\/PA Wire)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">&#8220;Temperatures are expected to peak over the weekend and ease early next week. They are expected to reach 30C in some areas today and exceed 30C more widely on Friday, with peak temperatures on Saturday of 33C possible in parts of England and Wales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cScotland is also expected to meet heatwave criteria over the weekend. This hot spell is forecast to last longer and cover a broader area than previous ones so far this summer and pollen and UV levels will be very high in some areas.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \"><a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/nhs-scotland\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"NHS Greater Glasgow and ClydeLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde<\/a> have issued some <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/all-about\/health\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"healthLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">health<\/a> advice for those attending TRNSMT or just planning to make the most of the good weather in the west this weekend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">The health board has urged those heading out to make sure they spend some time in the shade and, when they are in direct sunlight, have appropriate clothing to cover up as well as being stringent with suncream application.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Staying hydrated is also key, while having painkillers like paracetamol and ibuprofen handy is also advised. And if you are having a barbecue in your back garden, make sure meat is cooked thoroughly to avoid food poisoning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">Dr Emilia Crighton, NHSGGC\u2019s Director of Public Health, said: \u201cThis weekend is looking like a great time to get outside for warmer weather.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cNo matter what you\u2019re doing, please enjoy the good weather safely by protecting yourself when in the sun, staying hydrated, and having common medicines to hand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \">\u201cWe know tens of thousands of people will be heading to TRNSMT, and we hope everyone has a fantastic time.
