Lando Norris recognised that he and Oscar Piastri “owe McLaren everything” for the “unbelievable” car the team has delivered.\u00a0<\/p>\n
McLaren has dominated the F1 season and looks set to defend its constructors’ title by a comfortable margin, with a 238-point lead at the half-way point of the season, after the British Grand Prix.<\/p>\n
In addition, the Woking-based team holds a one-two in the drivers’ standings, with Piastri holding a slender eight-point advantage over Norris.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Only two of the 12 races this season have not been won by a McLaren driver, with Max Verstappen scooping two wins for Red Bull, in Japan and at Imola.<\/p>\n
Norris is aware of how fortunate he and Piastri are to have such a dominant car in the MCL39, a challenger which is the result of years of work.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Briton has seen the team grow over almost the past decade since he joined the company, and recognises how much effort has gone into the ever-improving car.<\/p>\n
“It’s getting better and better, so we owe McLaren everything for this season,” Norris said, speaking at McLaren Racing Live.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“We work tirelessly. I’ve been part of the team for it feels like forever now, eight, nine years, and for us to have the car that we have this year is genuinely unbelievable.\u00a0<\/p>\n
“It makes our life a lot easier on track, which is a wonderful thing. Yeah, so we owe [McLaren], as much as we’re the ones driving in the cars, and you see us on TV and in the cars.\u00a0<\/p>\n
